Small little cafe tucked away from the main road. I picked up my breakfast from here today. Ordered the Egg porotta with cream cheese. Shay Madhboot signature tea Parata was a bit overpriced but it tasted delicious 😋 Karak tea was in a big cup...and you could smell the cardamom. Nice and sweet tea. Very friendly and polite staff Paid parking space is availableMore

I was looking for a new place for breakfast in the capital and upon reading the reviews of the place, I was intrigued. When entering the place I was expecting something bigger and I was a bit disappointed. However, we decided to stay and have...breakfast anyways. My initial disappointment was somewhat eased when I saw the menu and the local flavors the place had to offer. It took a bit of waiting until the dishes came out of the kitchen but it was absolutely worth the wait. After the first few bites my son has stated that we must come back next week as well. The staff and the owner were all amazingly friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend the place to anyone who is looking for local, Emirati, home-tasting meals.More

It’s a very small place but they sure have amazing Shakshuka and Karak. The staff are very friendly. But make sure to allow some time as the place is small and you might not find seats

Tacked away by a side street in mouroor area, this is a hidden gem. Sawson will welcome you as you walk in to this cosy cafe style restaurant. Only three tables with three chairs each and a comfy sofa area table. It is small but...worth it. Huge selection of eastern style breakfasts and the famous karak tea. Good size portions and pricing is what it should be. No extras or overcharging! very clean too Google it for directions !More

After searching the local area we found the cafe tucked away. Well worth the effort, for a reasonable price we enjoyed delicious porotta bread with eggs, and amazing French toast. It’s only small inside, but that was fine for us as we were just passing...through.More

Shay Madhboot is a hidden gem. They serve the highest quality local food. The restaurant is very small and only has seating capacity for around 10-12 people. It's tucked away in a strip mall, so you it's not something people often just stumble upon. A...friend who lives in Abu Dhabi recommended we visit and we're so happy we did. We went for a late breakfast and placed our order for several of the Shay Madhboot Breakfasts (which is basically a skillet of shakshuka with unlimited karak tea and delicious bread) and French toast for the kids. The shakshuka is incredibly good. The eggs are cooked to perfection, the tomato sauce is fabulous and the goat cheese dropped on top is spectacular. It is served bubbly hot and with perfect presentation... an amazing dish. The bread served with our breakfast was also served hot and fresh and it too was delicious. The karak tea was the best I've come across in all my Middle Eastern travels, just amazing. I can't recommend a visit here enough. If you come across this review, take my advice and go to Shay Madhboot!!More

I am in Abu Dhabi on business for 2 weeks. Got tired of local food, so I stumbled into Al-Ulya for lunch. It looked like it d just a pastry shop, but I asked the owner what they offer for lunch. He told me they...have cod, tenderloin, and chicken dishes. When I told him I like cod, he carefully explained the 4 ways they prepare it. I went with the cod, egg, and potato, and I was thrilled with it. Extremely fresh. Beautifully prepared. And uniquely Portuguese.More

We wanted authentic middle eastern food and what a great choice! We had porotta flat bread with Lahm Naashef (a beef dish) and menemen eggs, and Turkish eggs which were poached with labneh, a thick yogurt-like product and served with a dark sourdough bread. Each...dish was an introduction to flavour combinations we'd never experienced before, and each was outstanding. Saffron karak, Turkish coffee and mint tea rounded out a perfect meal. Sawsan and Hicham were our charming hostess and waiter and provided service in English, French and Arabic.More
