I was extremely disappointed with the dinner at this restaurant. The chef has managed to classics like a Caesar salad and American hamburger and massacred them to the point of overkill. The Caesar had as many if not more croutons than romaine lettuce leaves. If...that wasn’t bad enough they drowned the entire salad in an overly salty dressing which cried out for some lemon and added enough raw onion to completely change the flavor to something unrecognizable to anyone who’s ever eaten a Caesar salad. Unfortunately the same thing goes for their burger. It was an overly salted, dry and tough as shoe leather hockey puck which appeared to have been sliced off a loaf of preformed meatloaf. Had it not been for the sweet onion jam and aioli which I had on the side it would have been inedible. My friend had the beef carpaccio which she also had to ask for lemon to add the right amount of acid to the dish. The complimentary Parker bread rolls came with some olive oil but instead of the expected balsamic vinegar it had a blob on the bottom of balsamic glaze so we had to dump the entire bowl onto our plate in order to get to the balsamic. Throughout dinner our waitresses scurried around us wiping our table several times with a wet washcloth at inappropriate times and grabbed unused paper napkins instead of refilling our water glasses which only added to the weird experience. I’m sorry to say that the name ‘The culinary workshop’ suits the restaurant as it’s clearly still a work in progress and not a fine dining establishment yet. The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is that the music was some of the finest tunes from my teenage years from the 70’s but played so loudly that any kind of dinner conversation was shouting at each other from across the table.More
