Loved the atmosphere there during the Xmas time. It is the best value for money dining place in the old city I guess lol Really good schnitzel and chips.

The Austrian Hospice is a small, beautiful and tasty piece of the tranquil Vienna in the middle of the most explosive spot in the Middle-East. Having a made-to-perfection Apfel Strudel and a Kleiner Brauner, as you may get in the Erste Bezirk of Vienna together...with the atmosphere make this place a must-visit in the Old City of Jerusalem.More

Settled in the muslim quarter the Austrian hospice is a historic pilgrimage hotel open for the public. (Accordingly, behave as such) The roof is accessible against a small fee and provides a very nice view over Jerusalem and the dome of the rock. There is...also quite some historic information throughout the levels and a historic library/meeting room to access. On the ground floor you will find a traditional cafe run by locals which provides authentic austrian coffee and cake (beer and more of course as well). We also had a traditional Punsch as it was winter which was fantastic. Also the cafe is self-service. As a Austrian it was a must-visit but I would till recommend it highly.More

Came here with work colleagues, including one local Israeli, and most of our group was sadly disappointed. Despite this, it seemed a very popular place to be! The menu is very small, there’s no table service (you have to go up and order from the...counter, then go back to the counter when your number buzzes to collect your order), and it seemed awfully overpriced (we paid 1047NIS (~$300) for 14 of us for a simple lunch). The food was okay, but nothing spectacular — my chicken schnitzel was rather bland, though the potato salad was very good (non mayo based). The rest of our group also felt their meals were a bit blah, and my Swiss colleague thought the bread wasn’t “traditional” at all. I probably wouldn’t come back here, as it doesn’t really appeal to my personal tastebuds (not enough veggies on the menu), but it’s good to see another sub-culture alive and well in Jerusalem. In other good news, they have clean bathrooms and a fantastic view from the rooftop!More

We love coming to this charming cafe! In the summer we enjoy sitting outdoors in the beautiful garden and in winter we enjoy the atmosphere of the European indoor setting accompanied by coffee scents. Have only had beer, coffee and cakes so cannot recommend any...dishes.More

Enjoyed going twice, particularly our second visit where we had strudel and cream with a cappuccino! Great service by Frdlin!

We stayed at the Austrian Hospice while on a whistle stop 3 day tour of Jerusalem. Lovely place, very tranquil in amongst the bustling streets of the Muslim quarter. Room was clean and functional, bed comfortable with a good pillow! View from our room was...terrific. Shower was a little mouldy but otherwise bathroom was clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good and Weiner Schnitzel very tasty although restaurant/cafeteria was empty when we went and so lacked atmosphere. No frills place, but does what it says on the tin, with a smile. Highly recommend if you want to stay in the Old City and soak up the atmosphere.More

No real service but you can sit lovely outside. The apple strudel is definitely not the best we have ever had.

I stayed here over night and I also visited the café and the terrace. The accommodation was nice. Modest but you will have everything you need. The location is the biggest advantage. The café is simply great. The quality of the food and drinks is...very high. After a few days in Jerusalem many of you may miss a good coffee with cake, or a Schnitzel. This is then the place you have to go. The terrace will offer you a beautiful panoramic view so do not miss it!More

When I lived in the Old City's Jewish Quarter, an easy 7 min. walk would bring me to the Austrian Hospice. Here, I would eat delicious Weiner Schnitzel and then Apple Strudel. This was usually after I had visited the antiquities dealers Haj Omar, across...the street; and Khader Baidun, around the corner. I would get ancient oil lamps and occasionally, Nabataean pottery and coins. The service was very nice and friendly, though I wore a Kipa [a Jewish skullcap]. I was back there a few months ago, and the food was as good as ever; but the attitude was decidedly unfriendly to me and to others like me. .More
