The four of us and two young children had lunch here and we served ourselves from the spread already on the main table, a spread of 3 dishes and rice. We also had fried omelette with our meals and drinks such as hot coffee, 'teh...tarik' and Iced Nescafe. The dishes were tasty and the rice served was good quality rice. It appears to be a family run business, with young teens helping to serve our drinks and the daughter of the owner and the owner himself chatting with us after we had our meals. Friendly folks. It came to a total of $27 for the four of us and two kids, less than $7 for each adult. Closed on Sundays, if I heard correctly. Highly popular with Malaysians in Phnom Penh and tourists from MalaysiaMore

Been here for so many times and for so many years! It has been and always will be consistently so good! If you are looking for Halal food or just looking for good tasty Malay food, this is the absolute place to go. Very economical...buffet style cafe. I have always make it an effort to go and eat at this cafe simply because the sambal is to die for as well as different types of rendang, kurma, kari, masak kicap masak merah and so on. The owner and his family are very friendly people. Through out the years, many customers had become friends. What have never change is the savory food that is prepared by the owner's lovely wife and beautiful daughter themselves. At Cafe Malaya, you get not just a nice tasty meal, you will also get a beautiful sincere smile to greed you. A meal in Cafe Malaya will make your day a perfect day, every day!More

Service was friendly and prompt. Food was good though not a great number of options for a buffet - total about six. Also would be nice to know how the plates are charged as this is not an all you can eat option (owner explained...this was changed from two years ago). We were told it depends on the amount we eat but it's hard for us to judge what is considered a big or small plate. The tea tarik was very good.More

We had lunch at Malaya Cafe during our family trip to Pnohm Penh in August. The restaurant was basic without AC but cool in any case. The restaurant serves an all you can eat buffet with was varied and tasty. Service was good and friendly...and prices quite reasonable for Pnohm Penh. We had wanted to visit again during our trip but couldn't as they close at 7pm and on Sunday's.More

I was in the area, walk half km to get here, restaurant is gone, no sign post, wasted half an hour. There is a good chinese restaurant at the cross road tho, so still some silver lining.

I went to try the food in Cafe Malaya on last Saturday, 8 Sep 2018 because I have read that there are many positive reviews on the place. I was the first customer patroned the Cafe on that day. The location is very strategic, located...within walking distance to Central Market. The Cafe served buffet lunch and charged USD6 per person. The choices of food is sufficed with curry, rendang, tomyam, vegetables, ulam and sambal belacan. I really like the cooking, it tasted very delicious, northern of Malaysia way of cooking. I feel like the cooking was done very homely and cooked with passion. I had the chances to talk with the owner. The owner is from Kedah and married to a Cambodian lady. They have different menu daily, open on Monday to Saturday. But on Saturday, it opens up to 3pm and closes on Sunday. The owners are very friendly and helped me in showing the halal butcher in Central Market. I am really touched with their kindness and friendliness, as I am alone in Phnom Penh and recently came to Phnom Penh as expatriate. The food they served also superb. I recommended this Cafe Malaya to everyone if you like the Northern of Malaysia's cooking. It tasted like home.More
