The Boma dinner was recommended to us and unfortunatley it was not worth the price. If you are open and willing to try things that you have no idea are then this would be for you. It was a lot of local game/ dishes all buffet style. From previous locations of stay we had already become familiar with most. No drinks were included EVEN WATER was charged in US dollars which was a huge turn off. All throughout our meal people would come to our table trying to sell things, asking if we wanted our faces painted, to be read our fortunes, it was very over the top. Our waiter tried his best however seemed overwhelmed with other tables. The entertainment was poor and honestly too loud for what they were doing. We did not stay for the drum show as we were just ready to go back to our resort.

I had a great birthday dinner on Jan 16th. My whole party enjoyed the drum show, the food and the face painting. They provided a truly individual experience by singing happy birthday to me with a cake and candles. The food is authentic to Zimbabwean cuisine and the staff are on hand to explain all the dishes. Cant wait to return.

Food selection was extensive, well-prepared, plentiful, and tasty. Entertainment was fun, enjoyed the opportunity to play the jambo drums, audience participation in dancing was low key so don’t worry if someone in your party is dance phobic! A thing to note, they have artists working on site. At first I didn’t pay much attention as I assumed their work would be expensive but at the end of the show we stopped to look, beautiful carvings and priced better than the shops in town. It was nice to chat with and bargain a little with the artists. Drinks were reasonably priced.

Perfect tourist trap.
Everything seems fake and forced. You’re given tiny plates so the food you get is not a lot unless you keep standing up to go and get more. You can’t help yourself to meat. A waiter will so he can cut tiny portions, they are so thinly cut they almost look like ham. Table waiters are on a mission to sell you alcohol at exorbitant prices and at the end there’s a very high conversion rate. Not to mention the beggars that come to your table disguised as ‘complimentary activities’.
I left as soon as I could it was sad to see so many tourists emptying their pockets on what’s defiantly not a genuine experience.

What a fantastic meal we had. The new ownership has totally upgraded and revamped the place. The food was definately the best value of any of the meals we had in the falls. My husband had chicken and chips and I had a pizza both were delicious. There is a lovely friendly, happy and festive atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. Loved the Goat called Chicken who will happily share your meal if you let him. If you need a reasonable priced meal ( breakfast, lunch or dinner or just a coffee) this is definately the place to go to in the Falls. For a drink with a wonderfully eclectic mix of people Shoestrings is the place to be. We did not stay but judging by the level of service and the value for money of everything else I am sure if you are travelling on a budget this would be the place to stay in the Falls.

The Boma Dinner & Drum Show is located just outside of the Victoria Falls Town and is a MUST for all visitors!
The evening is filled with endless amounts of tasty, traditional food of which much of it is cooked and prepared in front of the guests. But don't gorge yourselves so much that you cannot move, because you'll need the energy to join in on the fun interactive entertainment! There are incredible traditional dancers that put on quite the show, which we suggest you join in just for the fun of it, but of course you can also watch from your table if dancing isn't quite your thing.
You'll be able to get your face painted, visit the in house fortune teller if it interests you, beat along to the music with your own drum, feel like a local with your chitenge (sarong) wrapped around you and so much more!
The staff are joyous and energetic - they're always around when you need them and make your evening one to remember!
It's a fantastic evening that will bring you copious amounts of excitement, and leave you with a full belly! We highly recommend the Boma for a truly African dining experience.

What a magical experience the Boma was!
Their taxi collected us from the hotel for a small fee that was added to the food and show bill.
The welcoming there was awesome, we were given traditional cloths to put on as part of the experience.
The eating experience was amazing!!! The food very tasty.
The drum show itself was magnificent...magical...you get tired beating the drum and dancing but you don't want it to end!
The entire experience is reasonably priced.
We had a ball!

Booked the Boma dinner, with transfers, back in Nov'19 for a date in March'20. Paid for it in Nov'19, then at the beginning of Mar'20 got email to say that the price had changed and that another $10 was required otherwise our return trip to the hotel would not be included. Was pretty disgusted at this as no mention had been made that once paid they could then request a further cost. Also what we paid in sterling, when an exchange rate was used, was actual sufficient to cover the new pricing so still saw no reason for the request for another extra charge. Afro Dawn Safaris were unbending so have now cancelled the booking through Trip Advisor and booked it with Victoria Falls Guide who were very helpful.

Entertainment was great, everyone really got into the mood with the drums and the dancing
Everything felt a little disorganised however. We were seated and everyone else was getting their food, but we weren't sure whether we could just get up and get the food or did we have to wait?
Drinks guy was a little pushy which was a bit uncomfortable. Food was ok, not as great as we had expected and experienced at other similar places. They didn't seem to keep the food stocked up and always felt like we were waiting for the food we wanted to try
Understand that table placement is challenging when putting a show on, however all we got to look at was the back of the dances/drummers. Great to listen to and experience but would have been better to be able to 'see' them

Had a great night at the Boma restaurant ! The people are welcoming and caring. The show is very nice, you get to play drum and dance, and be a part of the whole ambiance. All of this in a very typical decoration.
I'm a vegetarian and the chef made it sure I had what I needed and showed me around what I could eat.
Everybody is really nice and the show is a must ! You will definitely remember this night if you like music and food

Generous buffet but average taste, sorry so say. Our waiter was really tired, smile and service as routine and didn’t give us more attention then needed. All the add on sales during dinner was also annoying. Not even the kids appreciated the entertainment that was on routine and without any entusiasm.

Samantha at reception went out of her way to ensure we were accommodated on an extra busy evening. She was Wonder-woman for us that day! Up till this point my parents had been difficult to please but the well prepared, well presented food spread, drum presentation and interactive evening blew them away. Very appropriate family outing - the children had an amazing and memorable time. We were 17 of us and it was worth every penny! Make sure you pop by the Boma - it’s simply exceptional. .

So many people praised the Boma so we decided to go. We were looking forward to it but we were immediately disappointed. As we entered the building, we were in a gift shop, which we were not expecting at all and immediately felt that we had entered a tourist trap. We were then draped in a piece of colorful cloth of varied African prints (which was removed from us upon exit.) There was a small stage with dancers and a few people at a time were asked to come dance. Someone would take a guest’s phone and make a movie of the people dancing. Prior to leaving this stage, we were shown the basket for donations. We were taken aback as right away we had been asked for donations. We were then lead I to a grand room, partially open air. The wait staff were very gracious and attentive and offered traditional African drinks and appetizers. The main meal was served buffet style and the quantity of food was enormous. There were several traditional food items such as pap, and Buffalo, pig, and impala meat. The entertainment consisted of a short drum show and dancing. The female dancers wore visible bras with a front covering on top. The background music was not live. We did not enjoy the show. There were further opportunities for us to spend money. A local craftsman was carving and sanding sculptures of animals. One man was offering face painting, another drinks for sale, and another fortune telling. All this added to the feel of a tourist trap. We have really loved Zimbabwe and while it hurts me to make a negative comment, we did not enjoy the experience and left early.

We spent 4 nights in Vic Falls and worked with our travel agent Stacey there in town to arrange all the popular activities. To be fair, while it is a popular activity, she even told me the Boma Dinner and Drum show was heavily commercialized. We booked it anyway. They have a wide selection of food. It is buffet style...you are seated and then get up and go to each "station" of the buffet. The workers put the food on your plate for you. It actually LOOKS pretty great, with the meat roasting on the open spit. But everything tasted pretty awful. We did sample the infamous Mopani worms which I expected to taste awful, and did not disappoint.
The dancers were ok, and we had fun beating the drums. That was the best part of the night.
Had we to do it over again, we would skip this. Dinner cruise was MUCH better food and an awesome experience viewing wildlife from point of view on the river.

This is a very entertaining show that includes a large buffet with foods you will recognize and some you won’t, complete with dessert. You will have to purchase all beverages and DO NOT drink the water. The food was good but the entertainment is better. If you are in the area, I recommend this show. It’s really good entertainment and lots of fun and audience participation. DO NOT PASS, GO!
