We asked if they take cards before we ordered, they said yes. We should have been more specific. They do not take international cards at all. We found out when all our cards had been declined. Had to have a local stand in for us that we'd get money to them the following day, especially with scarcity of hard cash... More

The food is very good. Service is very good. Then you try to pay. The restaurant DOES NOT take international bank cards. How they hope to cater for tourists is beyond me? Getting cash in Zimbabwe is hard enough already. Had to run around trying to find ways to pay. Thankful a friend was around with a local bank card.... More

Chicken cooked at its best with flavourful spices and herbs. The service was quick and professional. A definite place to eat at when you visit Harare

Nice crisp chicken and now they have swipe machines to pay with your visa or mastercards which is a step ahead and my business partner had Tbone steak and he enjoyed so much

We have always absolutely loved the Combra chicken and its unique flavours. You can find this only at Combra!

Definitely the best sole I've eaten almost anywhere in Harare, and I eat lots of sole. Everyone I go to Coimbra with eats the chicken, and they love it. Especially the gravy you get to dip chunks of fresh french loaf in. Divine! But I find the chicken a little dry for my liking. so I can recommend the sole,... More

This was probably one of the best food places around. It is a bit pricier but definitely value for money.

This is good for casual Nando's style chicken but to a much higher standard. What makes it stand out is its age which must date back to pre-independance. Quaint , charming and still authentically Portuguese it holds many memories of better times and is well worth a visit to reminisce about the "good old days"

Admittedly, this place has been consistent in a city where things are hit or miss depending on the day of the week. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Although I have eaten here off and on for over 3 decades, the last time I was here was during a business visit to Zim and we had lunch... More

Coimbra is known for its famous Portuguese chicken and that's exactly what we ordered when we got there. The place is always busy during lunch hour, and if you order anything other than the chicken, you can expect to wait a little longer than everyone else. The set - up is basic and generally clean. The waiters are polite and... More
