Anyone that does just a little bit of research before coming to Auburn might, at good chance, come across the name of a restaurant called Hamilton’s. The debate is certainly not over if the restaurant has great food; it does. The pictures, the reviews, and...the menu can advocate for that. The real debate is over whether the food is worth the price tag. As someone who lives near the Auburn area, that question has allowed me to avoid the local joint... until last night. We finally went as a celebration of the week. I finally was going to get that question answered for myself. They were able to seat us (party of 7) in about an hour on a Friday night, which I would consider pretty good. Our waiter was super friendly and phenomenal. I ordered the Pork Tenderloin with sautéed spinach, cheese grits, and chipotle BBQ sauce, for the price of $23. Well, I will be honest with you: it is worth the price tag. Everything on my plate was spectacular. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly. The spinach and grits were done the right way, not overdone like I have seen a lot of restaurants pull. When you mix in that and the unique style of BBQ sauce, you get a heavenly sensation of flavor. I enjoyed my food quite thoroughly, and I have yet to go to a restaurant where I could enjoy a pork tenderloin more than I did at Hamilton’s. It truly is a gem on the downtown scene, and I would recommend going here to almost anyone. Coming back here in the future will be a priority for me.More
We have heard about this place and wanted to try it out and it was great the crab cakes was so good, the fried green tomatoes was good,my wife had the blacken chicken alfrado,I had the club, both where delicious, and the service was really good also
So had spent two days moving our junior into new new digs at Auburn, and was starving. Not sure we looked the part as we were stanked out from moving, and Hamilton's is really a nicer upscale restaurant in Auburn..Great place for alums to hang...out or take a date out for a nicer evening..I mean white table cloth kinda place with slightly higher prices....we ended up sitting outside as the sun set plus ceiling fan working overtime so hopefully no one was offended. Started with the art dip and then wife had the wedge, I had the club, and son had the rib eye. The first rib eye went back due to be overcooked, but waiter was true pro handled with no question and the second steak was cooked to perfection and off the charts tasty.
two adult cocktails and dinner for three..out the door $80.00 not bad our second visit and we will return for sure when in town.More
My son and I had a great dinner at Hamilton’s before I left him for his first semester at Auburn. I had the pork tenderloin with sautéed spinach, cheese grits, and chipotle bbq sauce. The tenderloin was the best I’ve had, melt in your mouth...and seasoned perfectly. The spinach wasn’t overcooked like I usually see, and the grits were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cheese.
My son had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were large and plentiful, the grits, sausage, peppers, and sauce were delicious and just the right bite size portions. We left very happy and full. Service was great! We will definitely be back!More
I knew I was in trouble when I was offered a corner table in the bar area. I’m going to say that’s why my service was poor. The server, Lauren, was friendly enough on her first visit to take my order, and said she would...be back when she brought my dinner, but I was 3/4 through my dinner of a 16 Oz ribeye, half a scoop of mashed potatoes and 3 spears of Asparagus, before she showed up again. By this time I couldn’t point out that the steak was not done to a medium rare as requested and that it had too much spice, when I had asked for no spice. I mentioned when she finally did find her way back to me that I was surprised that bread or rolls are not brought with the dinner. She said “Oh, do you want bread? I can bring some”. I asked if there was a separate charge, and she indicated it came with the meal, but one has to ask for it. So, how does someone from out of town know to ask?!?
Of course, I had to wait for the check while she was visiting for the 4th time with another table. When she finally did come with the check and ask if all was ok (no offer of the dessert menu) and I didn’t answer, she said “just ok, hmm”, but no offer of “let me get a manager for you”. So, hopefully management reads this in order to get feedback from customers less than happy. This could be a good training opportunity. Just hopeful management reads these comments.More
Picked this restaurant because it was walking distance from the hotel. It was a very pleasant surprise Comfortable decor , nice selection of beer.
Although Auburn is not well known for seafood the fish was fresh and very well prepared. A notably good meal Service...was attentive but a bit slow but it did not detract from the experience butMore
