I visit Rasika (West End location) often, and there is a reason why: the restaurant has the BEST Indian food in the city. Though that may sound bombastic, just try the Palak Chaat to start...the Gobhi Mattar or Andhra Chicken Curry as an entrée...accompanied by the Olive and Sage Naan and Gulab Jamun (for dessert)...and you will know why this place is the best! Combined with the lively atmosphere - I've never seen this location empty - and friendly staff, Rasika West End is a definite stop for those with both bold and more tempered tasting palettes.

Walked in with reservations (and a reservation, recommended as they can get very popular especially in prime times), walked out to write this review. Excellent curries, pretty much very good to excellent everything, in fact. I was impressed. Every dish had a clear, unique flavor. And everything delicious. If I lived here, this would be my go-to restaurant while I worked my way through theIr entire menu. SD and safety protocols visible and practiced by both staff and clientele.

Interesting experience, in a good way. Not my favorite design (modern with a giant mudra hand sculpture hanging from the ceiling) but that did not interfere with the vibe which was modern Indian food. The cuisine was streamlined in presentation and clean to the palate (borderline bland). The waitstaff was attentive if not a tad aggressive pursuing more drinks and desert orders.

Our first visit to a restaurant in months, so we came early, with a reservation. The tables were spaced well apart and the staff wore masks and gloves. Of course, the food was excellent. We started with the spinach and had the crispy biscuits for the 1st time. We had the naan basket and the assorted chutneys. For mains, we had the salmon tandoori and the shrimp curry. We split an order of chocolate samosas for dessert. As delicious as we remembered pre-covid.👍👍

We were pleased to be able to return now that things are opening back up. Sarah took us to our table and answered a couple of questions. She was delightful. During the process she recommended the Palak Chaat or grilled Spinach. Great recommendation! We shared a plate of that along with small plates of bhindi, gobhi (cauliflower), mushroon pepper fry and garlic naan. All were wonderful and we can't wait to return.

Visited West End location based on hotel recommendation while on a business trip. My mom joined me. Excellent ambiance and decor, great customer service and food variety. Some of the better Indian food I've had so far. I was able to splurge a bit and order many different menu items and wine. Will eat here again if ever in area and do recommend.

My wife and I live in the UK and every time we return to Washington DC (where my wife was born) we love to go to Rasika West End and every time we go we love the place even more! Last night (Aug 29) we had the taster menu and each dish was superb - particularly the black cod (worth every dime of the supplement). As per usual, the service was attentive, informative (we have one of the restaurants cookbooks at home and often ask if dishes are in there, to which the response is most often yes), and polite. We look forward to returning next time we’re in town!

First time at the West End location. Pleasant atmosphere, indifferent service. We got a mix of vegetarian, seafood and meat dishes. Spinach appetizer particularly good. Red snapper and halibut good not great. We ordered a bread basket, and then I ordered another naan and the server suggested I order two more because “each order is only one piece of bread cut in half.” More spicy than I recall, which is fine, but may require more bread, and rice (which was in short supply). Less fun, and more cost than I recall, but food is high caliber.

==Context== Went here for a conference dinner as part of a part of around 25 people. Venue and good all chosen by the organisers.
==Positives== Excellent food. Good atmosphere.
==Negatives== Felt cramped. Waiting staff didn't seem to understand any of my questions. The gastric pain suggested the food was ghee-heavy.

We love Rasika...both locations. But tonight we dressed up, went to the New Hampshire Ave location and my boyfriend of 3 years proposed! What's really amazing is the waiter watched from across the room and while my boyfriend was still on his knee, brought us 2 glasses of champagne free! Plus 2 desserts for free to celebrate. This is a fabulous place. Good is superb too. Always start with the Palek Chat (sp?), Fried spinach and onions in a delicate white sauce. Yummo. I had the Paneer Massadum (vegetarian) cottage cheese blocks in a delicious cream sauce. Scrumptious. He had the Red Snapper masala. Very good . Definitely was spicy but he ate every bite. They brought us gulab gamun (cardamom donut-balls) and ice cream and a warm date cake with whipped cream and strawberries for our surprise dessert. Oh my word!! It doesn't get any better than this.
Please, do yourself a favor and try this place or the sister location. You will find it is a treasure.

I had dinner here on a recent trip to DC. The appetizers, especially the crispy spinach and cauliflower, were some of the best Indian dishes I have ever had. In fact, when I return I am likely to make the appetizers a meal they were so good.

This was by far the best Indian food I have had since I moved to the area. Not only was the food fabulous, but the staff (Mohammad was our waiter) was a 10+. Not only were all of his recommendations spot on, but he was thoughtful enough to bring tasters to the table when we couldn't decide what to eat next. The Palak Chaat was outstanding paired with the Goat Cheese Kulsha, The Black Cod was insanely delish and their Chicken Tikka Masala was the best I've had. In addition, the Tawa Baingan (eggplant) was yummy and the Cauliflower Bezule was insane. You will not be disappointed in anything you try here. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu.

Our family enjoyed your chef's specialties yesterday (July 4th, 2020). we enjoyed the food, some unique items like Green Mushroom Curry and Kerala Halibut with saffron rice. Cauliflower and Chicken Tikka were good appetizers as well.
I was disappointed to see the names of all your cocktails though, as they are all feminine names. Do we really need to see these wonderful girls/female names as cocktail drinks?
I hope your creativity will modify the names of cocktail drinks.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was absolutely awful. We tried a lot of different dishes from the menu and they all tasted amazing.
The waiter M’Hammed had an attitude and rushed us from the second we sat down. He did not explain anything to us from the menu. With the prices they charge they need to do a better job of making the whole experience unforgettable. I would think twice about dining there again because of the horrible service. We complained to the manager early on about how our waiter was rushing us after being seated and you would think they would have come and check on us during or after our meal but no one did. We read about the bad service in multiple reviews before going but we were hoping those issues had been taken care of. Sadly they have not.
