Four of us went to Kingbird for dinner and had a wonderful evening. We had a variety of vegetable, fish, and meat, and it was all prepared and presented impeccably. The booths make it easy to have conversations at a normal volume level. What really put the experience over the top was the attention from Kevin, the sommelier, and Abdul, our server. They really listened to what we wanted and delivered. They made us feel welcomed. I definitely plan to go again.

One of the best meals I've had anywhere (and we have eaten at fine dining places all over the world). Good service by wait staff Jaime and her supporting staff. It's elegant. We selected the fixed price menu which was under $60 each for appetizer, entre, and dessert.

We had a lovely dinner at Kingbird before attending a performance at the Kennedy Center. (Note: There is 3-course prix-fixe theatre dinner option in addition to the full menu). As we entered the restaurant, it was really nice to be greeted by front desk staff, waiters, and the manager who recognized us from previous dinners. We found ourselves feeling welcome even before we took our seats. The squash blossoms stuffed with ratatouille, goat cheese, piquillo pepper were delicious and evocative of Spain. The shrimp cocktail was accompanied by the cleansing freshness of julienned radish curls. The poached white asparagus with hollandaise, prosciutto, brioche, and edible flowers brought back memories of Spargelfest in Germany. It was one of the most beautiful presentations we've ever seen and the dish tasted as good as it looked. The Ora King Salmon was perfectly cooked to medium rare with a crispy skin and butter-tender flesh. It was accompanied by fiddlehead fern, creamy beluga lentils, and shaved green asparagus. Kingbird always has exceptional desserts. A standout is the Caribbean Cheesecake mango compote, almond tuille cookie, coconut sorbet, passionfruit sauce. Flavor bomb. The warm brownie, with chocolate sauce, salted caramel ice cream, caramel popcorn, and candied almonds pushed all the right buttons. The wine list includes a variety of options depending on one's taste and pocketbook. The restaurant deserves kudos for including high quality choices at reasonable prices, eschewing the markups of some other nearby restaurants. The high ceilings in the beautifully designed dining room absorb sound so that diners can actually enjoy conversations without hearing people at other tables. Coffee is generous, dark and rich. Our server, Omar, was exceptional. He is attentive without being intrusive. He is knowledgeable about every dish on the menu and the extensive wine list. He made excellent suggestions that we will try again. Omar shows genuine interest in the diners and managed another large party easily while keeping us on track for a leisurely walk to our performance at the Kennedy Center. We will return to Kingbird again and again. The menu changes every two months.

We took advantage of Restaurant Week to check out this restaurant. We go to the Kennedy Center often and thought this might be a nice option for eating dinner beforehand. We were so disappointed. The room is beautiful and service attentive, but the food was really awful. And, like the old Catskill joke, the portions so small. Maybe the regular dinners off the menu are better, but I can’t understand why they would offer such a sub par experience during Restaurant Week when they could be attracting new customers.

I went to Kingbird at the Watergate for an afternoon tea service for a friend's Bachelorette party. Our waitress was Fifi and she was fantastic! However, the food was frankly subpar. For $75 per person, we were shocked to have been served STALE macaroons and the other pastries were underwhelming. The sandwiches were fine, but nothing special. I would NOT recommend this restaurant for the tea service, ever.

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience this past Friday (26th). We dined at Kingbird prior to the opera at the Kennedy Center. Our server was Christina - there aren't enough superlatives to describe her graciousness, attentiveness, knowledge and overall hospitality. I've been to Michelin star restaurants where I haven't been treated this well. We ordered from the prix fixe menu but my friend expressed her light-hearted disappointment that there wasn't any chocolate on the menu. However, when our desserts arrived, Christina also brought us a chocolate trifle. She tried to offer it complimentary but we couldn't let her do that - we insisted on paying for the extra dessert because she had already made the evening so very special with her attentiveness. When we were ready to leave, Christina showed and escorted us to a special exit to cut our walking time to the theater. Aside from Christina, the food was excellent but Christina made our visit remarkable. I will be back and I will ask specifically for her.

A truly delightful experience! The ambiance and service, as well as the artfully created and presented savory as well as sweet pastry selections all added up to a relaxing afternoon with good friends and great conversation. Be prepared to choose (1) pot of tea here. Also, ask for a new pot of hot tea when it cools; it's a generous sized pot, (maybe tea cozies would be nice). There is live entertainment during that timeframe. I highly recommend it.

We had a lovely girls outing at the Kingbird for the Afternoon tea. It was a lovely afternoon with my friends. There was a nice a variety of finger foods and desserts to enjoy with the variety of teas. We were all very pleased and plan to attend at a later date.

Had a lovely Sunday brunch at Kingbird at the Watergate in December. Lots of tasty options, braised beef was divine, solid mimosas, etc. We will gladly return next time in DC ...

Nice feel to the place. The Watergate Hotel is a great venue. The drinks and service are top notch, but the food falls short. The duck was beyond tough and their variation of fish and chips overwhelmed the fish with a very heavy amount of breading which hid the flavor of the fish.

Kingbird restaurant offers a superb luxury dining experience from the valet greeting you at the entrance of the Watergate Hotel to the dessert. Named after the Eastern Kingbird, a Washington, DC native bird. Adopting the dapper and adaptable virtues of the Kingbird, Executive Chief Tony DiGregorio’s cuisine uses locally sourced ingredients in menus that reflect the seasons. Our apppetizer favorites include the fresh oysters, roasted beet salad with huckleberries and sorrel, Maine lobster salad with vadouvan cream a finger limes. Every entree offers a masterful chorus of flavors including chicken forestière with chanterelle mushrooms, a mushroom risotto with foraged mushrooms, black garlic, vegan Parmesan and leeks, a seafood ravioli with shrimp, scallops, bisque and cauliflower, and pan seared duck breast with stuffed cabbage, celeriac, black truffle and sauce pèrigueux. Our fabulous server Omar brought a personal welcome and attentive service from wonderful wines, dinner through to a charcuterie board, and delicious biscuits. Finally, the restaurant’s dining room award winning design, is warm and welcoming with noise levels so low you can easily hear your guests. Kingbird is truly a celebration of life, friends and family!

I enjoyed dining at this restaurant during my stay at The Watergate Hotel. The food is healthy and filing. The buffet breakfast has a very nice variety of options. At night, there is an awesome bar inside of this restaurant with friendly bartenders serving drinks just the way I like it. I look forward to continuing to dine and drink at Kingbird when I return to the Watergate Hotel.

Nice table. Nice staff. Sommelier (Drink steward) tried to upsell an $18 glass of wine to a $28 glass of wine without mentioning the cost. Really pushed mixed drinks. Food way overpriced. $21 (pretty basic) Caesar salad?? $26 Burrata panzanella salad?? Etc…. Stayed overnight at the hotel. Breakfast a bit more in line on prices, but, omelet came with a very peppery greens salad instead of something a bit more “breakfast-y”? Not appealing, although the omelet was very good as were my husband’s pancakes. But, Hot tea was $7. Come on. Really? We then caught that we were charged for a coffee that we didn’t get. They did apologize and took it off the bill. Overall I would not recommend Kingbird.

Had stopped by the Kingbird restaurant this past week and had an excellent experience! Had the signature martini at the bar with David. He helped us with great suggestions; a shrimp cocktail, rack of lamb with truffle fries and paired with Monterrey cabernet. After our meal David gave us a lot of useful information and cool facts about the area and the Watergate hotel, he was very formative and personable. I will be back!

Outstanding service and outstanding food. This was our Thanksgiving dinner, the waiters were very gentle and knowledgeable of the menu. The Manager in charge, Cesar Roa is the best, his kindness and gentleness are evident. This was the best dinner experience we’ve had for Thanksgiving! THANK YOU Kingbird Team!
