If you are looking for traditional bograč, like we were, you will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for an excellent vegan restaurant then this is definitely a good place to go.

The waiter serves in sportswear. The famous Prekmurskab gibanica is half the sice as 3 years ago while price is doubled. Thre photo of same next to entrance showsnthe old "version", now twice smaller served. The Bograch goulash which originally comes with 3 types of...meat is now vegetarian because the owner is vegan.More
If I visit Ljubljana again, it will be almost entirely in order to eat again at Gujzina. The service and hospitality from the moment we walked it was stellar, and the food was even better. We had the homemade vegan plate appetizer, vegan bograc stew,...and Prekmurska gibanica for dessert, and they were each amazing. We liked the dessert so much we came back the next night just to have another piece. I wish I had such a good vegan restaurant near me in the US - I'd be their best customer.More
They were very busy as there was no space outside, but they let us sit inside in a separate part of the restaurant by the toilets (there seems to be two or three entrances to different self contained areas). It was quiet in that section...but we didn't mind. The poor waiter seemed to be dashing about by himself so service was a bit slow, but friendly. There was so much choice on the menu, we didn't know what to get or what went with what so we ordered poorly! We didn't realise that nothing came with vegetables and we hadn't ordered any salads or veg (they do cabbage and pickled beans). The seitan Bograč goulash starter was very nice and came in a hanging pot which was cool. I made the mistake of just getting dödöle for my main which was far too stodgy (baked flour and potato dumplings with onions and cream) and I couldn't eat it all. I should have had it with the starter. My partner had dark vegan steak with I think deep fried potato balls. We didn't try dessert as we were stuffed full of beige stodge. I would rather eat fresh veggie dishes that the fake meat alternatives. We stopped here a second time for turnip soup and some wine as part of a food tour and I would say the turnip soup was excellent, highly recommended.More
I was here years ago when it was not a vegan restaurant. Oh my was I impressed by this small jewel in the heart of Ljubljana. People who don't eat meet please stop searching...this is the place!!! The food was amazing...the setting was fabolous and...the service was outstanding. My new favourite place to be.More
I wanted to try the popular Slovenian dessert, Gibanica. This place seemed to have very strong reviews specifically for this dessert. It was my first Gibanica and it left me wondering what the hype was all about. The dessert was dry, dense, gritty, and lacked...flavor. I ordered it to go and they gave me a slice already in a take away container in the bottom of the case. Maybe that's where they keep the old pieces since they assume you will be long gone before you find out what a mistake taste like. Luckily, I did not give up on the dessert. I tried it 3 more times at other places and found the best version at Julija.More
Nestled in the heart of the city, this establishment boasts a charming terrace where guests can relish in the vibrant atmosphere. Their menu features a standout goulash alongside an array of traditional delights such as sausages and ham. To complement the culinary journey, a diverse...selection of wines awaits, along with the addition of the acclaimed local craft dark beer, Bevog.More
As lifelong vegetarians we were excited at the idea of eating Slovenian veggie food without the meat. However, the veggie sausages were poor. Quorn supermarket sausages would have been better. The potatoes with it were good but €16 for 2 sausages and potatoes is a...joke, traditional or not. The cheese starter was the best bit of the meal - a good selection of hard cheeses that were spicy or herby. The dumplings with onion cream were tasteless. I have never pushed a plate back - but I did this time. My daughter liked the first couple of mouthfuls of her tagliatelle, but stopped then because it was loaded with cream and little else. Over all, we were so disappointed. I would recommend you do not go. There are plenty of other places that have veggie or vegan options.More
A great menu, a variety of different regional products, all vegetarian or vegan. And tasting superb, just go there! A nice place in the centre of Ljubljana (and a good try for all non-vegans or non-vegetarians: you'll love it!)
Wow! This is an absolute gem of a place in the heart of Ljubljana. Also called “Green One”. As the title says, the menu is focussed on traditional dishes and regional specialties. All fully veganised and absolutely delicious! Nice al fresco seating (pity about the...smokers), and also ample indoor seats. We were here for lunch after spending time in the morning up at the castle. I wish I had had some room for dessert, as they also looked amazing. Service was friendly as well.More
Very rude waiters. They are unkind, incivil and the food is not worth of tolerating their behaviour.
This is the most original and varied vegetarian/vegan menu we have come across in a long time with a good wine list too. Well worth a visit. Every dish we had showed attention to detail and authenticity. The service was attentive and engaging.
Do not go here- we had a terrible lunch and service. The service was curt and extremely slow- it took an hour for the lunch to arrive. The gnocchi with mushroom sauce were gross — I’ve never seen gnocchi so tough and also three inches...long each - did someone forget to cut the dough? The server was apathetic and helpless. The salad was limp and drenched in dressing . Other clients were also having challenges. I haven’t had such a terrible meal in a restaurant in years. Only silver lining — they did agree not to charge for the gnocchi and give a discount on the rest. We felt misled by the other reviews so clearly something has changed there.More
Salad was dry, service was slow and the polenta with mushrooms was too salty. We didn’t have time for dessert but the cakes looks good.
The preparations are not tasty any which way Tried three different dishes but all below average Maybe mock meat looks or maybe Slovenian recipes are not for Asian palettes
