Stopped by El Gordo's for an early birthday coffee and croissant with my son- service was warm and friendly and coffee/breakfast was excellent. We loved the location in chancery lane ! Highly recommended place to call in for a coffee

We were passing by and spotted this cafe, down a funky little laneway off the Main Street. Decided to come back for lunch and so glad we did. Lovely staff who gave great recommendations. The food was amazingly good, and I really enjoyed a light...and lively Spanish beer (a bit like champagne) with my meal. Highly recommend.More

We have visited El Gordo a few times when we visit Bendigo. They have a great tapas menu with very good coffee. Not burnt. Great atmosphere in a great lane way. Easy walk to the gallery and other great spots in town.

We actually went here twice. Once for a drink and dessert (crepe Catalan - delicious!), and then for brunch for tapas. 5 courses, delicious and amazing value for $35 inc wine. Great vibe, waiters excellent (especially Jacob) and we will return

We had a wonderful Saturday evening dinner at El Gordo in the first week of January 2021 and had a wonderful meal and evening in general - every bit as good as we would expect in Melbourne! The atmosphere in their laneway was charming, the...service was friendly, attentive and helpful, extensive Gin selection [even a non-alcoholic which was perfect for one of us!] and the food was amazing. We had such a wonderful evening by the time we were done we realised we were the last ones there, but the staff didn't seem to mind or let on so we chatted to the owner to thank them for the evening! Thanks El Gordo for a lovely evening - we'd highly recommend when in Bendigo and considering for dinner [we didn't get a chance to try their breakfast/brunch/lunch]!More

Gin was fantastic and huge selection. The barramundi was delightful. Waiter was very attentive and had a pretty good knowledge of the gin selection list as it is huge.

There’s a reason why it’s worth checking the review. Didn’t disappoint! Let me start with the vibes and mood, before the pleasant meal. It’s a bright, fun funky place. The guy who seated and served us was awesome! awesome! He’s sooo vibrant and welcoming, really...enjoyable experience. The food. Wasn’t expecting this in Bendigo, those quaint Melb food laneways will make run for their money in my opinion to this. That Baked beans, egg choriso is a must try. Jamon serrano breakfast with fresh croissant, so fresh! Margaritas in the morning, doesn’t matter, they are all so deliciosos. And on your way out, you can pick some of those Spanish sardines! Highly recommend. Definitely worthy of “a tell all” to friends, workmates and people on out of towners that not to miss this place when in Bendigo. El Gordo es el nombre! Muchas gracias!More
