We came due to previous reviews and were not disappointed. Great coffee, friendly service and restaurant quality food. 10 out of 10!

We were seeking a place for drinks and stumbled upon The Larder. Upon entering, they inquired about our reservation, which we didn't have. We expressed our intention to have drinks at the high table if possible. They agreed but then seemed to forget about us....After some time, we managed to get someone's attention and ordered two St Germain cocktails, priced at $20 each (although they were somewhat overly sweet). A little while later, the waitress returned and asked if we wanted anything else. I mentioned that we might order some fries but not immediately. To our surprise, she responded with annoyance, suggesting that we would need to vacate the table because she needed it. This caught us off guard as we still had most of our drinks remaining, and we were considering ordering more. We stayed for about 25 minutes, and throughout our visit, the waitress displayed a consistently rude attitude. Our overall experience was quite disappointing.More
Fresh food beautifully presented with amazing flavour made this great spot for lunch before we went to the Weta Cave just 100m down the road. There was a selection of cabinet food which some of our group devoured while others had menu items. Menu items...that were worth mentioning above the rest was the livers, crepes and pork belly salad. A most refreshing lunch!More
Really impressed - brunch was delicious and reasonably priced; the side of pork sausages was amazing. Service was friendly and prompt - our food arrived quickly, even though it was really busy, so top marks to the staff.
I went with 3 friends. They called ahead and made a booking. The welcome and service were fabulous. The coffee delicious and the breaky when it arrived was perfect..... everyone's was. Thanks and keep up the great work. I will definately be back.
Have previously had really good experiences food-wise at the larder. But today we arrived without a booking (apologies- previous policy was that they DIDNT take bookings) , and managed to get a table in the middle of the main thoroughfare. Was shown to table ,...but no menu or drinks. Likely would've been left there to rot for a while. Incredibly frustrated with the lack of service, and we left after 15 minutes of being sat at a table due to lack of service, and at a table that shouldn't have existed in the 1st place as it is located in the middle of the main thoroughfare, as well as bad acoustics ( couldn't hear anyone at the table talking)More
We went in on the off-chance at a busy time. There were six of us. The staff were cheerful and very accommodating about finding a space. The service was excellent and there was no problem at all with sorting some food for the children off...the sides menu. The food was delicious and the price reasonable. Great service all round.More
An absolute favourite. Everything here is delishious. Best brownie and ciabatta loafs in wellington. Sarah is a delight and runs a tight ship. Jacob delivers stunning menus that keep us coming back. A must do!
Food is tasty & ingredients fresh. Bakery has great pies & good selection of counter Food. Menu has interesting Food & breakfast burger is recommended.
I sent for lunch with a friend on 12 April. I chose the grilled octopus, which was very tender and came with crisp pieces of thin chorizo, a really well assembled fresh salad including radicchio and small yellow and purple tomatoes, and a lovely rouille-style...dressing on the side (sorry, I didn't write the details down, and it's now changed to a calamari salad). My companion had the delicious fresh fish special, and we shared some excellent bread on the side. Dessert was if anything even better, and looked so pretty: cubes of chocolate mousse covered with ganache, strawberry sorbet, sliced strawberry and mandarin, and tuille biscuit pieces. Superb food and delightful service, for a very reasonable price. We will return! AND they had unusual cakes, pies and bread to buy and take home.More
Every time I have been here the service has been exceptional. The welcoming & friendly staff are great. The food is fresh, delicious and well presented. The drinks list is great and full of tasty NZ options and the coffee is great. Highly recommend.
The Larder is local-ish and I've always had a great meal - be it brekkie, lunch, brunch or just for the bread. Looking forward to those eclairs coming back (I keep missing them!) and the cookies are so tasty. Waffles were very good and my...10yo niece found the meatballs to be "outstanding"More
Visited to kill time before a weta workshop tour and the hot chocolate was almost as good as the tour in comparable experiences! Milk was steamed to perfection. Silky smooth. Worth a trip out of your way to visit.
The room was rustic, welcoming and packed. The wine list was short but interesting and the food choices all sounded inviting. We had perfectly cooked grouper with salsa verde, orrichetti with cauliflower and middle eastern spices and a really fresh pork belly salad with apple...and bitter greens. The Greek doughnuts for dessert were seriously additcitve and the two slices that we had with the superb coffee were generous and tasty. This is the kind of place you wish was in your own suburb. It was very polished and relaxed.More
Really disappointed in both the service and food at lunch today. The cauliflower soup was beyond bland. It took a long time and a callout to the waitress to order our food. The meals then took ages to arrive which was nearly an hour from...when we first sat down. The coffee ordered did not arrive so had to remind the waitress who admitted they'd forgotten. I would have preferred to tell the staff at the time but no one asked how our meal was when we paid. Have previously loved this place but certainly dropped the ball today.More
