Food was great, but make sure you book! We called earlier in the day and they managed to fit us in for an early sitting, but saw multiple people turn up only to have to be told they were booked out. If you do a...meal first you get 10% off the 360 viewing. The 360 viewing seems to happen on the half hour every hour (they gave us the option of the 6:30 or 7:30 viewings). $25 for adults and $15 for kids. The experience was great, the hardest part was deciding where to look. Basically it’s a cylindrical theatre screen (nothing on the roof or floor) which goes through the history of different places along the Ghan as well as the stories of some of the locals and is very well presented. Even if you don’t want to pay for anything it’s great to just go to the lookout and see the big winch!More

Happily this restaurant doesn't rely just on spectacular views, they also offer fabulous live music, excellent food(best in town), great service and reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

We went for dinner & the sunset both where very enjoyable. The 360 degree film is a must to see. there are also souvenirs to buy.

Time for a review of Tripadvisor’s Numero Uno restaurant out of 9 in the Opal mining capital of the world, Coober Pedy, South Australia. Famously used for Mad Max films and Last Taxi to Darwin. It’s an Anglicisation of 2 aboriginal words kupa and piti,...when directly translated: white man down a hole!! Hilarious. 🤣 Big Winch 360 is a bar/cafe/cinema, all rolled into one, or into 360…. ahem, err degrees atop the town with great views. We try mushroom burger and lamb shanks. Good but a bit expensive. Ran out of the good pies before lunch was even over. Good coffee and great view.
