John's Pizza Bar and Restaurant is a multi-award-winning establishment. It is a licensed, café-style, al-fresco restaurant located in the outback South Australian town of Coober Pedy, which specialises in providing locals and visitors alike with high quality, affordable dining and service.
The queues for food and the crowded carpark were a good hint that the food here is great !
The service is counter service, but prompt and cheerful.
Although the food took a little long to arrive, it was well worth the wait.
One night...we had pizza and pasta, and the Pizza truly deserves the title of one of the top 10 pizzas in Australia.
The following night we ate there again, and were not disappointed by the yiros and more pastas.
The facilities are clean and tidy. Single toilet for the mens was not an issue as we never had to wait for the toilet.
Will return if ever we come back to Coober.More
We ate her on 3 out of the 3 nights we were in Coober Pedy. It was a tad disappointing that they had run out of emo metwurst for the Coat of Arms pizza when I tired to get it, but the Meatlovers, Chicken Hawaiian...and John's Special were all winners. Lovely base with ample toppings. Another night I tried the Chicken Schnitzel and that was great too. Pizza boxes have a unique feature being able to be used as a bib. Very ingenious.More
VOTED THE BEST PIZZAS. They certainly have a wide variety to choose from, though unfortunately when we visited they had run out of prawns which was hubby's first choice, but never mind he still enjoyed second choice.
After all the hype of being scored best pizza, was disappointed. The pizza was alright but nothing to rave about. BUT the ladies toilet was filthy, used antibacterial wipes to wipe the smudge dried poo off the back of the seat and urine blotches on...the front and the flush buttons were gross yuck yuck yuck and Shame on John's Pizza for terrible hygiene. And to top it off we are living in covid times. If the toilets are not clean, what else is not cleaned. Poor food handling practices.More

This place actually ranks in the top #10 of pizzas Australia wide, yup! The crowd at a weekday night early in the tourist season will tell you the picture. Food is perfect, even garlic breads are so yummy. Service time a bit slow, but that's...understandable given the footfall.More
Tired after a 10hr day of travelling, hanging out for a satisfying feed. Took our chances on the restaurant across the road from our accommodation. So glad we did! Very busy at the time we arrived and staff informed customers about the wait. Although we...didn’t have to wait too long for our very tasty feed.
I could smell the authentic Italian flavours…yum! We ordered Pepperoni pizza, vegetarian lasagna which came with salad and chips (all very fresh) and garlic bread. Happily scoffed by us all. Most customers were ordering the John’s special pizza which had the lot. Wished I’d had time to see that as an option but oh well, gotta leave something to come back for!
We had some fun with the pizza box too (see photo attached).
Only dropped a point for the lack of service, no staff at the counter for a bit when I came in to order and confusion with distributing made orders (possibly new staff? however a senior staff member stepped in within minutes, calling service staff back to the counter and gained control over the orders) and the fact that staff could’ve made suggestions for sides and specials given lots of customers were tourists and not familiar with the menu. Just would’ve made the experience so much better. Overall, great feed, good experience. Check out the menu well before ordering.
There’s so many options.More
