Returned again to one of our favourite places, perfect as ever had a visitor so was eager to share this place with them like us they loved it food is fabulous, fresh and tasty cooked to perfection. The owners and staff very friendly and helpful prices are extremely reasonable and portions very very generous but please try and save some room for Claire’s fantastic cakes and puddings that are deliciously home made. Give this a try you will love it

I saw a picture of the platter on Facebook and it looked amazing. Often, what you see posted is not what you get! Not here! It was a very special birthday for me and I went with hubby and friend. We all have good appetites and wanted a 'special' lunch we coud all enjoy, taking our time, with a glass of wine or two, in lovely surroundings, with a view! And, that's exactly what we got. This place is a gem and very, very worth a visit. The people are lovely, the food exceptional, the ambiance outstanding and the views are just beautiful. We couldn't have chosen a better place and we will visit often. It is easy access from the road, with good parking and the outdoor patio dining is spacious and enjoys a light warm breeze. They close on a Wednesday so we went on a Monday having confirmed by messenger on the platter post. Now I come to 'The Sharing Platter'. Three of us shared it and took more back for tea! It was loaded with the freshest bread, savory biscuits, a selection of different meats and cheeses, a mix of fruits, tomato and more. It was serviced with pickles and scattered with pomegranate seeds so it looked as good as it tasted. All ingredients were super fresh and tasty and was served on was large wooden platter. We had a lovely glass of wine and a good chat with the Chef/Host and were so well looked after it was a delight. The promotions manager came to introduce himself and told us the puds and cakes, all homemade were to die for and we had to have some. They were as tasty as they were pretty and we were full for the rest of the day. A lovely place to spend a few hours with amazing food. Oh, and, they have a market there every 3rd Sunday of the month with gifts, food, speciality items etc which we went back to visit a couple of weeks later and that too was really special, with super friendly stall holders to make us welcome. The Stone Lion is a delightful venue - you must try it!

Eat here last Friday which was fish and chip night, although you don't need to have that. The menu was quite extensive with specials on the board. It was packed we booked in advance and needed to, the service was excellent and the food freshly cooked and extremely tasty on top of all that excellent value for money.

Fabulous late lunch on a Sunday Lebanese mixed grills for the boys and an amazing vegetarian lasagne for me.What a delight great to have a lasagne that is not mostly pasta lots and lots of veggies, the mixed grill was a showstopper selection of tender tasty meats ,flat breads huge salads and mixture of dips . This place is a must visit food presented so beautifully , fresh local produce but please go hungry as ver very generous portions and to miss the wonderful home made desserts which look nearly as good as they tasted The only thing that surpasses this fabulous food and desserts are the hosts themselves and the lovey team they have with them Dory and Claire are amazing , passionate about what they do and enjoy it . We will be back many many times 👏👏👏🦜🦜🦜

Had our first visit based on the glorious feedback thus received. It's credentials are indeed well warranted. The people who have this take great pride in delivering delicious food with great service. Menu is quite varied anyway and several more choices from specials board. You can tell it is all done from scratch and the depth and complexity of flavours created are of a very high standard. Although not the cheapest, it does represent excellent value given the quality on offer. Would highly recommend a trip out if you are fancying spoiling yourself. The Sunday lunch is supposed to be excellent too and you can prebook afternoon tea for a minimum of 4. The fact that today, Friday they are just about fully booked for 60 covers tells its own story.

We ate at The Stone Lion twice during our holiday in the Polis area and both occasions were faultless. On the first visit we both had the Lebanese meatballs from the specials menu and they were great, very tasty and well presented. The desserts, chocolate brownie and cheese cake were equally as delicious. On our second visit we both enjoyed the lamb shank, again from the specials menu and again the meal was excellent. Despite being rather full from the main course we had to find room for the desserts. The service was excellent, really couldn't fault a thing. We highly recommend this restaurant and hopefully we'll visit again soon.

A very popular spot that I would suggest needs booking if you are going for Sunday Lunch. Menu plus a roast lunch are offered - we had the lunch which had plenty of meat and a good veg selection of veg plus a home made Dessert for a VERY reasonable price. It’s located 5km south of Polis on the B7 opposite a fruit stall - signage isn’t good but if you drive slowly you will find it

Sunday lunch is second to none, only roast beef but it is well worth a visit. If sunday lunch isn't for you there is a menu full of delicious platters. Onto the desserts, you must make room for one of Claires fantastic homemade specials: the cheesecake is so light, blackberry & apple crumble...yum fabulous chocolate eclairs & many more.

What an amazing restaurant!!! We have visited many times now and the food and service is exceptional. The chicken is the best in the area. The price is so reasonable you almost feel guilty with such a small bill. Our grandson loved the parot.

We had a fantastic family meal at The Stone Tavern earlier this week. We hadn't booked a table, just turned up on the off chance after finding the tavern on google maps. Mark the owner was very welcoming and found us a table right away. We had the mixed grill platter from the specials, this consisted of pork kebab, chicken kebab and sheek kebab, homemade chips, hummus dips and a fantastic little salad. The food was delicious, we are massive foodies and honestly I couldnt fault it. Even the salad was served in an edible tortilla bowl. Our son had falafels and chips and loved it! We also shared cheesecake and pavlova for dessert, both were great! Mark, the owner was really friendly and chatty. He owns a parrot called Walter who was sat on a nearby table, our son loved him and he brought him to our table on his arm so our son could see him up close. One of the highlights of our holiday! Thank you Mark for being so accommodating and friendly! This off- the-beaten- track tavern is definitely worth going out of your way for.

Due to circumstances it was a while since I had visited the stone Lion, probably getting on for a couple of years. Six of us visited for Sunday lunch, and despite the place being very busy, we were greeted immediately on arrival, shown to our table, and very quickly our drinks order was taken. We placed our food order when the drinks arrived, and after very acceptable wait our food arrived. We ordered 5 Sunday roasts, and one burger. I cannot praise the food highly enough, and the portions were ample, well presented and the service was excellent. On the requesting the bill we were offered desserts, we all refused because we couldn’t eat anymore. Where upon the waitress suggested we select a dessert and take them away, as they were included in the price of the Sunday roast. We took this offer up, the next pleasant surprise was the bill. It will not so long again before we all return.

Fantastic cold meats, cheeses and fruit platter for two. Ordered to take away - didn't even need to leave the car when i collected it - physical distancing at its best. Amazing value for money and service with a smile always... Definitely recommend The Stone Lion for both summer and winter meals.... can't beat their Roast Lunch....

Just back from having one of the best Sunday roast lunches on the island! Four of us opted for roast beef with me choosing a combination of roast beef and chicken which was wrapped in bacon and with stuffing. We were told we could have any combination of chicken, been, pork as well as lamb shanks plus there was a separate large selection of mains and the absolute best choice of home made desserts. The Sunday roast special came with a dessert included in the price of only €18.50. As well as the meat chosen we were given delicious crispy roast potatoes, two Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower and broccoli with cheese sauce, peas abd carrots! Most of us couldn't manage to clear our plates. We were asked if we wanted the leftovers for our pets or ourselves but we declined. Desserts were amazing and huge. We elected to take two home and these were packaged and refrigerated until we were ready to leave. Drinks and hospitality were second to none. The owners mark and Claire have the best restaurant around. Mark is front of house and cannot do enough to ensure you're happy. Claire cooks and produces the most wonderful desserts. The whole team are just so lovely. We can't recommend it highly enough. Be sure to book and don't eat for a week before you go!! Thank you Mark & Claire. See you again soon, will tell all our friends and bring family when they visit.

A chance meeting in the local supermarket led us to this wonderful restaurant! Dory approached us to let us know he had started up on his own. Great news! On arrival we were greeted like old friends. We had a choice of where to sit and, as the restaurant is elevated above the road, had a great view across the surrounding villages. We enjoyed watching the sun set over the hills.. The menu is an absolute delight. The attached photos are of the Lebanese Chicken and Falafel from our first visit. Delicious! The desserts are to die for too.. During our two week holiday we only dined out three times and chose The Stone Lion each time. We’re really looking forward to visiting again this year. I highly recommend that you visit - you won’t be disappointed?

To be honest we have tried so many places for Fish and Chips, probably not good in August, but we did. Having had a restaurant myself in Spain many years ago, I can appreciate the owner who is front of house, taking orders, pouring drinks and who can be over busy a bit, when people turn up without reservations. Friday and I guess and Sunday the most popular days, people must definitely book, we will try Sunday Lunch but when it cools down. 5C higher there, with a slight breeze, but it did not deter us going. Not only is the front of house, Allen, very appreciative of his guests, everyone is special. We felt well and truly special. Sometimes we had to make a point of getting attention but it was full so we accepted it. All we can say is, it was a lot of food, we do not each so much, but told order one between two is OK, so we know. I bet we do that with a Sunday lunch, as his beef looks as we like it, medium rare/rare, thick slices, from the photos, so we want to try it. As residence, it is great to find a homely restaurant like this. Thank you so much for making us welcome, other diners, pleasant to us too. So after all that, eating our fill, we took the leftover fish and chips, as we actually got whale and chips(!) we took it home. Only thing to say was it was too hot at 35C!!! Not their fault it is summer in Cyprus. THANK YOU TEAM for all your efforts. we will be back with friends when it cools down.
