Opposite Rondebosch Common the café have a fantastic view of Devils Peak with ample parking. We dropped in for a quick Bagel Breakfast after our Saturday morning parkrun. The air-conditioning did not seem to be working fully, thus we sat outside in die fresh are...and enjoyed the lovely view. The service was fine and the breakfast did not break the bank. Good for catch up coffee with friends, or even business meetings; can be noisy tho as it gets busy with these sorts of customers. Service slow, sometimes ingredients not available. Good when you’re not in a hurry. Ample parking with a good view of Table...MountainMore
I went to common ground to work while waiting for my car to be serviced. I asked to sit at a 4 seater which is slightly bigger than the 2 seater so I'd be comfortable working and eating for the next few hours. Despite the...restaurant being almost empty and an abundance of open 4 seater, I was informed that they would be busy later and that I had to sit at a 2 seater. Several solo customers were subsequently placed at 4 seater, to my irritable and never was i offered a more comfortable spot. The whole time I was there several 4 seater remained vacant. Frankly the service was rude. Food not bad.More
The place offers a fantastic view of Devils Peak, but give some 35 minutes for your scrambled eggs to be cooked in the early morning hours. The waiters are anabiotic, the cook seems to be half-asleep, the whole pace does not seem to care about...you.More
Quite the worst service I've had in a long time. Phone-booked but no record thereof. Placed our order - got iced coffee instead of hot chocolate (and it's winter time!). Then after half-an-hour asked "Where's our order?" - no reaction and again after a 50-minute...wait went up to the kitchen counter only to walk away feeling like it was MY fault. When the order - eventually - came the food was fine (how can you cock up a plain croissant and a cheeseburger, I ask you?) but was put in front of us with misgiving and an attitude. I had asked to see the manager/ess and was told "She's busy in the kitchen" - she obviously wasn't busy enough!More
The view and location gives potential for awsome place to meet but despite friendly service it was not attentive to - serviettes, salt and pepper waiting very long periods to get e.g coffee, bill etc Food was good quality and value but not once did...any one enquire on satisfaction The Mushroom . spinach dish with poached egg - the spinach was clearly not drained sufficiently and was swimming in at least 1/2 cup of fluid, mushrooms now soggy as well - waited to bring to attention but no one paid attentionMore
This restaurant is buzzing and busy - rather reserve a table and avoid frustration (like we did when we visited on a Friday morning). The view of Table Mountain is glorious. The menu offers various options, but our group settled for the inviting cakes on...display with coffee. The service, after our initial scramble for a large table, was professional. We ordered carrot cake and the baked cheesecake. The coffee art was excellent, the presentation of the cakes were standard. The coffees were executed well and the cakes were fresh, tasted home-made and we enjoyed it all. Ideal for coffee & cake / breakfast/ lunch.More
I met a colleague for a meeting - the location is super. Great views over the common and mountain. Good parking available. The day was a bit chilly so the cement floors did not help with the lack of warm feeling. I ordered a flat...white with Almond milk (R33). The waitress did not know if they had milk alternatives but I was very pleased that they did. She also didn't know if they had Rooibos tea? And, when the drinks came, they brought my colleague ceylon tea. I found this totally weird. I ordered a slice of Ciabatta with roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and avo. My food arrived without the avocado. We sat for ages talking and no one ever came back to check if we needed more drinks. So, my rating is down because the service was very poor. Food was good. But, when the service drops, one does tend to focus on the cost - our bill for one tea, my coffee and my meal came to R 119.00 before tip! That means that my one slice of bread with toppings came to R 65 - I would not normally blink as usually I am just grateful that I can actually get something vegan to eat, but with the lack of service, i become unhappy. It took quite a while to get my bill and then we actually waited and eventually walked to the till to pay as no one came back for the payment. I think it's a really great location, good food and coffee and nice decor but the service is definitely a problem...More
I came in on my own, asked to sit outside which was fine. As the waiter left I sat outside for 50 minutes waiting for him to come back outside and ask for my order. I am still waiting here and I am almost very...sure he has forgotten about me. I haven't eaten or had anything to drink and I just feel it is very unprofessional that I was forgotten outside. It was also not a busy morning so I don't see why I'm still waiting for him to come ask me my order. I will most likely not come back or recommend to anyone who wants to come alone. Maybe - just maybe the only way to get seen around here is if you are in a big group or not alone (look young) because they did serve the other guy sitting near me who was also alone.More
