Went to Al's about 6 weeks ago and now one of favourite restaurants for well priced great food great friendly service and take your own wine with a reasonable corkage. The kabeljou is to die and kill for but not always available due to shortage....My wife says the rump steaks are the best she has had in Capetown. I have the hake and veg if kabeljou not availble My wife has had the calamari and prawn combo. We have in the las 6 weeks gone to Als 4 times and welll continue going back Thanks Al to and your staff for great food Very varied menu but we have favourites!!!!!!!!More

A very good local restaurant with a real family run atmosphere. Excellent, friendly service and good, quality food too. It doesn't pretend to be fine dining and it's certainly not pretentious, but it's a sure bet for an enjoyable, relaxed meal.

Whilst the interior and ambiance is very average, the food is well prepared and delicious. Al's place offers a good local place to meet up with friends after work for a pint and a home style meal and prices that are affordable. We will definitely...try it again.More

Good food in the hood.Pricing was reasonable and the food was really good all round.Take you own wine if you want though the wine prices are reasonable. Go early evening to enjoy the daylight ambience.

I go fairly often to Al's, either with friends or even alone. Al is always smiling and welcoming, as is Leanne (not sure of spelling). Al's is ideal for pre-theatre/cinema dinners. It opens 17.30 to 22.30 Tuesday to Saturday and for lunch 11.30 to 14.30...Wednesday to Friday. There's a reduced price menu if you order before 17.00. Bringing your own wine is acceptable - a small corkage fee charged. The food is tasty, cooked by Al himself, usually. It is not expensive. Leanne is an amazing waitress with a prodigious memory for orders, without writing them down. She definitely gets 5 ☆☆☆☆☆.More

Okay, so Al’s Place won’t be winning any awards for interior decorating but it far outweighs anything it lacks in style, with superb food and the best service I’ve ever had at a restaurant in Cape Town. The manager/waitress was serving all five tables on...a Friday lunchtime (including two big ones, with over six patrons) with an ease, friendliness and efficiency like I’ve never seen. She was brilliant. I had a sirloin, which was perfectly cooked - rare and tender and the meals are served with a generous portion of yummy vegetables (always an extra ten points in my book). This place is a little gem, tucked away behind Rondebosch station.More

Not in the least sophisticated but with attentive service. The food is good. We had the line fish and veggies, well cooked and tasty, and a burger with a good char and crispy fries. Pricing is reasonable.

We visited Als Place last night for a birthday supper. We have been there before, so know the food is consistently good and the service excellent. When I called to make the reservation, I told them one of our party is in a wheelchair. When...our guests arrived, the staff went out of their way to help to get the lady out of the car and in to the wheelchair. Then they made sure she was settled comfortably at the table, even giving her a cushion for her bad leg. Service beyond the call of duty!! Of course, the service was great, Lee-Anne was lovely as always. The food was great, not one complaint from 8 fairly fussy eaters. Will always recommend Al's and will be back soon.More

We got pizza to takeaway here as we were staying closeby. It has a really nice vibe inside and I would like to go back and eat in. It was very quiet at the time but I think we were there quite early in the...evening.More
