As our stomachs started to feel peckish we wandered through the menu. The pizza was value for money but we opted for the chicken and beef extra special burgers. A real value for money and water is free. Ice water Waiter is efficient and food was steaming hot. Waiter was very friendly and went out of way to cTer for us Chicken burger was value for money but beef is even better with eggs and bacon

I ordered a cheese and tomato sandwich plus chips. Both portions were generous and the food was fresh and tasty. They also make great cappuccino. I visit giba often and recommend this establishment.

For the last year have been a member of the Giba bike park, at a fee of in the region of R800 a year one would expect that they would have a system that would not embarrass the members or create undue tensions. For the last couple of months I ride from Kloof down through St Helliers to the cafe where I have breakfast or a drink then head on home. Today I was "served" (not) by a young waiter he asked politely what I wanted, took my order then disappeared. After 10 to 15 minutes he had not returned but was hanging around the counter. When I got his attention he came over and asked me for my membership card. I explained it was attached to my bike, (they have guards at the entrance to the park from St Helliers who stop you to check). He then asked me for my name which I gave to him. He again disappeared not to return. Ten minutes more of me waiting and him hanging around the service area doing nothing, I decided to call for the manager. As I got up and approached he hurriedly got my order together. Which I now was in no mood to have. I called for the manager but was attended to by the lady in charge of front of house. I showed her my Membership card which she confirmed was up to date but had no explanation for why I wasn't served. A suggestion to Giba cycle park and Cafe 1.) Issue a membership sticker that we can attach to our Bicycle board which the guards can easily identify. 2.) Issue a smaller sticker that we can attach to our helmets /cell phones etc. (if you want to insist that only members can be served at the cafe). Frankly I would have rated them Zero for this visit but I have in the past had some excellent breakfasts and Lunches there. I still can't figure why they wouldn't serve me and would like an explanation.

It's always refreshing to do a hike. The Park is well maintained. Food and service is terrible. lunch. I walk in at Giba gaze sat for almost 10 - 15 min when there were only two tables being served. It was practically empty. The waiter ignored me When he passed by the 3rd time I gave him a stare. Only then he came with the menu and asked me to pay at the till. This was now after seeing him assist an Indian lady that had barely sat down a minute but he was already assisting her. I placed my order. Almost everything I was asking for was out of stock. I settled for drumlet and chips. A few minutes later I saw that table with Indiana lady eating the same drumlets I was told they have finished. In short my order was changed without even informing me. When my order came I ws told drumlets s have jst finished but instead I was given 6 full wings instead of 6 drumlets. I didn't have a problem. But those wings felt like they came from a deep freezer after 2 years went to a microwave and deeped in sauce. Not fair at all. I didn't have energy to complain I ate this food because the sauce was what I needed as I have this irritating cough which make my through itchy and becomes better whenever I eat something hot. Not once ws I asked if my food was OK. The waiter came ND rook the plate like an eagle and walk away.. Those wings looked like they were even chopped a bit

This was our first visit to the Giba café. Our food was delicious, but I think they have to start catering for people that just want to visit the café, and not the fabulous bike park. We had to pay R10 per person, just to enter, to eat breakfast at the café. It is lovely to see all the families riding bikes, eating breakfast etc. Our breakfast was delicious - maybe start catering for a kiddies menu? Will visit again if in the area.

Giba is a great family space - ride your bikes (own or hire), walk around the lawn, hike a little etc. Then have a good cup of coffee and really nice chic cake (or when we were there it was) and watch the action around you. Good for a sunday afternoon moment.
