I have become very lazy about writing reviews on Trip Advisor but feel i really owe it to everyone involved in Homespun to write about this incredible dining experience . We visit Cape Town each December /January and have eaten in all the finest and most exciting restaurants in Cape Town. This was our very first visit to Homespun at the Andros and wasn’t sure what to expect. The food, presentation, the sheer theatricality , the taste and flavour combinations make this one of the most exciting meals we have had in Cape Town. The whole team including the service team are superb, the pacing of the dishes just right , and the price seems a little too low for the level of gastronomy that is presented. I urge everyone to go

I was privileged to receive an invitation to the pre-opening of this new restaurant. The restaurant is different to the Homespun in Blouberg! It is modern and stylish to fit in with the opulent surroundings of the Andros boutique hotel. I was delighted to see some of my favourites from Blouberg on the menu and some new delights. My favourite prawn dumplings had more intense flavours! In true Homespun style with epicurean flair. The lamb chicken sweetbreads took me on a journey to France! Lamb was cooked to perfection and the sweetbreads crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! This is sublime cooking!! The star for me was the Pork Belly Pancake with miso salsa verde Chris sou! This is a very special dish with intense flavours which work together in harmony like an orchestra!! Thought provoking aromatic flavours!! Matt and Chris your dishes definitely jolt one’s senses and wake the taste buds. I can highly recommend this new Homespun by Matt!!

We have been wanting to try this out for a while, and were not disappointed! "Magic Mike" was one of the best waiters we have had and kept the evening fun and entertaining. The food was amazing, each course with an element of surprise and always delicious - we had the Tasting Menu with the wine pairing. Can't wait to try the one in Bloubergstrand!

Whilst I can see they’re trying hard to be a top fine dining restaurant the quality of the food and service is disappointing and they’re just not in that league. Nobody from management bothered to welcome or ask how our meal was, despite seeing them hovering around. Waiters also didn’t seem very interested or well trained. The food was ‘nice’ but not of the refined level you would expect of a place that offers molecular-style gourmet-level fine dining cuisine. The fillet dish was the only one I actually enjoyed but also overly salty just like the flavor profile on everything else. The ‘no banana’ dessert in fact had banana ice cream whereas the waiter said there’s no banana in that dish. The fake banana was also not very tasty and was like a frozen ice lolly but with bad consistency and flavoring. It was hardly edible. The concept of serving it in a monkey was fun and creative but the actual dessert was not enjoyable and made it a failure. Overall the restaurant didn’t live up to the all the hype and expectations… food was average, service was slow and not very friendly. I enjoyed the relaxed ambience, lovely gardens and small dining room area which made it intimate and the decor was minimalist and unpretentious. However the staff had a pretentious attitude which didn’t match the food they served which was average for the league they’re placing themselves in. They also didn’t deserve the automatic 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill. Expectations were unfortunately not met this time based on slow average service and lackluster food quality. Maybe next time will go better.

A large group(20 odd) booked at homespun end of Feb. Set menu offered at a reasonable rate pp. A pleasant evening was enjoyed by all. Unfortunately, unbeknown to us, we were charged for our wine “by the glass!” And not as expected by the bottle. Resulting in a huge over charge on the wine consumed. Don’t think we will rush back in a hurry as we felt like we had been taken for a ride. Ended up paying about 2000zar per couple. My wife had one gin and tonic and half a glass of rose’ wine. Another pretentious Cape Town restaurant

Having to pay extra for bread and an extra course on a tasting menu is just plain robbery. The waiter didn't mention any extra costs and worded it in a way that they were inclusive of the meal. Such a shame as it just left a bitter taste to what would have been a fantastic meal. Sadly, instead of telling friends how lovely the food was, all we are saying now is that we were lied to and robbed. Would have loved to have written an honest review on the actual food and experience but this is all I can think of.

We decided to try the Andros restaurant as it was a new venue in the hood. What a disappointment - advertised as offering 2 or 3 course options. On arrival, we were informed that only the more expensive 3 course option was available. First mistake! Secondly, too many staff around constantly enquiring about our enjoyment of the meal, which did the inexcusable of fine dining, by repeating ingredients in the courses. A 12% tip included in the bill, and no change when paying in cash, over and above the tip. The food was too self conscious for our liking

Good afternoon Jenifer, Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. When it comes to the 2-Course menu, it is stated on our website and all advertising that it is only available for lunch. Our staff is trained to make themselves available at all time to make sure our guests have the best experience. I can understand that it might have been a little overwhelming for your liking and will definitely have a word with my team and emphasise the fact that they need to feel the energy and needs of every guest in our dining room and adapt accordingly. The change in cash should have been given to you for sure and I’m sorry it did not happen how it was supposed to. I will make sure this never happens again in the future. Since I can not get your details through TripAdvisor, please contact me on reservations@homespunandros.co.za and I will gladly send you a voucher as an apology and an invitation to experience the improvement of our team thanks to your feedbacks. I hope you have a fantastic day ahead, Kind Regards, Matt

I find myself constantly coming back!!! What Matt and his team have done at the Andros is truly special, I have been multiple times and I've had almost everything on the menu! The consistency and value for money it superb! Dishes I would kill for are, The Beef Tataki Prawn Dumplings Matt Special (unchanged for 6 years) Cry Baby (0f course) The staff are a massive vibe, friendly and informative. Matt never skips a chance to stop by our table to welcome us, give us insight on the dishes or just chat about inspiration for the look and feel of the space. The 7 course is fantastic!! The flavors and sizes of the dishes create a fun and exciting experience that is best when shared with a group of friends or family! The wine selection and the creative cocktails add even MORE to be excited about. See you again soon!

Fantastic evening spent at Homespun at the Andros hotel. Honest and authentic food. Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented Chef Matt was kind enough to introduce himself and tell us a story or two about his food creations which we enjoyed. A shout out to Ross and the other waitrons who were so thorough in the service and our food experience Thank you to Vanessa who assisted with my booking and special requests. Highly recommended.

Our family of four had dinner at Homespun last night for my birthday! What a wonderful treat! The decor exudes opulence with a wonderful happy casual ambience. We loved it. We had the three course menu which gives one a great choice of flavours . The food was both exceptionally innovative and tasty with a small amount of "theatre" on the table bringing it all together. Our waiter JP was friendly, professional and highly knowledgeable and all in all everyone was obliging offering good service. Thank you!

I had lunch at this charming fine dining restaurant today with friends. I decided to have the soup which was definitely a wow factor! The flavours were intense and took me on a journey through Asia! Thought provoking aromatic flavours which were intense but balanced in harmony. The simplicity of this dish has a lot of detail in it and extremely tasteful. In true Homespun style with international epicurean flair!! I enjoyed this dish very much!! The service was attentive as always!! Thank you guys for a beautiful lunch!!

A very disappointing experience at the bar here. Firstly, they don’t serve any snack (olives, nuts) but the main issue was I was recommended a glass of wine. I took a sip but didn’t like it so I asked for another and the barman insisted (having supposedly consulted with the manager) that I should be charged for both. I find this really poor and led me to recognised booking a stay for family at the Andros Hotel where the bar/restaurant is situated.

Although very familiar with the original "Homespun" in Bloubergstrand, this was my first experience visiting the sister restaurant at The Andros Boutique Hotel. First impressions walking through the doors and you immediately get the feeling that this is on a whole other playing field. The venue is absolutely breath taking, surrounded by lush trees and spectacular mountain views. Dining outside under 100 year old oak trees just gives the restaurant an ambiance like no other! From our starters to our deserts we were completely blown away by the exciting flavours, combinations and probably the most beautiful plating i've ever seen! Perfect for a date night, lunch with friends or even a business lunch/dinner.

I visited Homespun at the Andros last Friday evening and was honestly blown away by the experience. The tasting menu was divine, varied, and fantastically put together. The waiting staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and engaging. Fantastic veggie tasting option with unusual flavours that worked well together - who doesn't love Daikon. Such a versatile ingredient. If I had to pick one fault, it would be that the 7-course menu did not leave us feeling full, as the portions are very small, but it was worth it for the incredible food and setting. A must for any visitor to Cape Town!

I spent 5 years working for a European Michelin star pop up restaurant called Pret a Diner and had the privilege to work with some of the best Chef's from around the world. After eating lunch at Homespun I was honestly under the impression that their food was the same quality, if not better than any of the food I tasted when traveling with Pret a Diner. The flavour and presentation was was set to perfection and every dish was so unique that it keep your mind wondering and wanting to taste all the dishes offered rather than sticking to a basic 3 course menu. I would definitely recommend the tasting menu for any first timers and make sure to have it with the wine pairing as it really does make such a difference in getting the full culinary experience. I will definitely be going back to Homespun but next time I will stay the night at the hotel for the full dinner and breakfast experience.
