It was certainly worth the detour to spend time with Michelle, who is a licensed and approved rehabilitator of wild animals. We met the latest arrival, a friendly and inquisitive bontebok. She also bakes delicious muffins and is hugely knowledgable and caring about the animals she rescues. Do stop by, there is a warm welcome to be had, tasty food and heartwarming accounts of the many and varied animals that are brought to her door for her to help.

We stopped here last week looking for breakfast. The town is very quiet right now so limited options. This lovely little cafe was open although the menu options were quite limited. Nevertheless the owner, Michelle, was lovely and welcoming. We sat on the veranda in the sun and enjoyed our hot tea and DELICIOUS toasted sandwiches- best ever. The venue is very interesting and includes an old car museum and various other antiques dotted around. Food was fresh and piping hot!

We stopped for a coffee on our way to Addo and couldn’t have had a warmer welcome or a more wonderful experience. Michelle and Jurie are a lovely couple- we had lovely coffee and delicious savoury muffins in the veranda and then were so lucky to meet Beep the baby antelope and Jellybean and Jackhsie the bat eared foxes- rescued by Michelle and Jurie. It was a real privilege to visit and my husband also loved the vintage car collection. It’s a wonderful place- 100% recommended! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon x

Today we walked and drove through Steytlerville and took pictures. This afternoon we went to The Verandah ( also in the main street) for something to drink and eat. This was an interesting stop. They worked on rehabilitation program for wild animals. They do not get any sponsorship from the government they had to generate their own fund to run this programme. They have two little shops where they sell items and books to assist them with that.
On the premises is also old cars he is working on. Ask to see it. We asked so many questions and learnt a lot. He also form part of the people who promote Tourism in Steytlerville.
This is worth a visit. Do not be in a hurry.

If you make a long drive from Oudtshoorn to Addo or behind. Grab this coffee shop, there is a really nice atmosphere here. This tent also takes care of animals, nice to check on them! Tasty coffee and wow what a cake! Fathers of the house has a nice car museum behind the house (photos) people are very friendly!

This is a wonderful stop-over in a small Karoo village.
It is not only a quaint coffee shop which has delightful muffins,
but is also the home of Pegasus Car Museum where there is a very interesting collection of vintage cars.
And if that is not enough it is also a wild life rescue centre.
So with out a doubt it is worth a visit.

Michelle and Urie run a very quaint shop shop and an animal rescue rehabilitation centre and car museum. Michelle is so welcoming and friendly and is passionate about her animals cars. I spent a wonderful few hours with her admiring the cars and meeting Jellybean, the bat eared fox... I even fed him!
This is a gem of a place in the middle of Steytlerville!
I would highly recommend popping in for a visit.

Dear Michelle, Dear everyone who reads this... Michelles and Yuris (not sure about the spelling...) Place is worth every drive where you‘re coming from. Hava a nice drink or a snack and enjoy the garden. The hosts will gladly show you the animals they currently take care of. ...and i‘m sure jelly bean (the bat eared fox!) will be there!
We loved the place...

This lovely coffee shop opposite the information office was a real gem!
Make sure you leave enough time to see the rescue animals as well as the tame bateared fox, & the vintage cars!
Our coffee, hot chocolate & cheese & he muffins were also excellent.
Quaint gem in the middle of nowhere. We'll worth driving for.

Lovely little Motor museum, & coffee shop run by Michelle, & Jurie. The property also includes some small animals that are being rehabilitated. You will get to meet Jellybean the cutest little bat eared fox.
It's definitely a unique, & different experience.

What can you say, needed a cuppa had a 2 hour experience. Stroked the saved bat eared fox, and hardiedaar. Watched the steebokie recovering froma dog attack,Admired the classic car collection, picked up some handy drawer handles. Walked away with change in the pocket and a desire to revisit Steytlerville, just to have another cup of tea.

The place and the people really grew on my heart. The owners very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The place really has the best coffee. We met Jelly-Bean a rehabilitated bat-eared fox which is like a little mascot and so cute. The property (includes restaurant, collectable charity shop for rehabilitation of animals and old car show room) is in immaculate condition very clean which was the first thing we noticed. The cars are beautiful and almost unreal in the beautiful condition they are. Any car lover would love to see. Thank you Michelle and Jurie. And Michelle is a food connoisseur we had the most lekker chocolate chip cupcakes fresh from the oven.

Maybe not "The World's Best Coffee", as their sign proudly proclaims, but definitely worth a stop.
Friendly service, tasty food and the unusual opportunity to see rescued wildlife and some old cars as well (I hesitate to say "vintage" as I remember some of them from my youth!).
Don't expect it to be a quick stop though, everyone is chatty and very hospitable.
