We, 2 adults and one child, had a dinner reservation here during our ski holiday in Tignes (la Lac). The restaurant is fairly small and when we arrived, as the first guests for the evening, there was is a slight unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke. To be fair, both me and hubby are super sensitive so others might not have noted this. The menu is pretty limited but that is, in my book, a good thing. The 3 of us had cheese fondue + cold cuts and we were served swiftly. However, the resto got full within 30 min and the kitchen didn’t manage to serve people timely. We were recommended a regional red wine which had a good value for money at 27 eur. For dessert we had the “gateau basque” which was excellent! Actually, I think it was home made. Overall, one of the nicer local restaurants in the area and I would come back.

Had an evening meal here.
Food excellent with a reasonable selection on the menu. Chef pops out to make sure everything is Ok and you can see the kitchen from the dining area.
T Bone steak was huge and tasty. Local fare was also rated excellent by our party.
I would recommend this restaurant although it was quite pricey

We visited in July 2020 as a family. While the menu has some local favourites (tartiflette etc) it also has things like big grilled prawns, pigeon / foie gras tart, octopus carpaccio, ceviche. You can see all the food being cooked through a glass window on the side of the restaurant which is always reassuring. The service is attentive but not so attentive that it is annoying. All the dishes we had were delicious, the decor was lovely (important as we are snotty Londoners) and we will definitely visit again. The So Bar next door is good for a pre-dinner cocktail.

Traditional Alpine French food cooked extremely well. The starters were amazing, the balance of flavours was awesome! The main courses of fondu or raclette were tasty, traditional and exceptional high quality. This with the attentive and fast service resulted in an evening to remember in a beautiful Alpine setting.
I thoroughly recommend booking this restaurant if you are visiting Tignes le Lac and you will have a night to remember.

Fantastic dinner at Mendikoa. Prompt and friendly service in this small restaurant.
The menu is small, but most options are great.
I ordered the seabass, which was served with a rainbow of various vegetables - a welcome addition to the usual heavy wintersport dishes. Great dish with great taste. Wife enjoyed the tartiflette (big, hearty portion).
Will definitely come back here once we revisit tignes.

We had the best dinner we have had in 10 days here. It’s a little out of the way and not huge inside, but it’s a really attractive, modern restaurant with a basque influence alongside some traditional mountain dishes. We went this evening with our 3 young children and everyone left feeling very satisfied. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional and while not cheap by UK standards, it was the best value meal we’ve had too. Highly recommended!

The best value for money in all of Tignes for this restaurant, well known and appreciated by insiders and locals alike. Guarantee of confidence.
The morel fondue is delicious, the beef cheeks meltingly tender, the desserts delicious. Raclette with quality charcuterie and farm cheese, to die for.
The only small downside but which doesn't change the overall appreciation, the soft-boiled fried egg is very interesting but not hearty enough for a dish.
Friendly welcome and efficient service. We'll come back.

We always try to go to this restaurant whenever we are in Tignes and it is always superb. The varied menu is excellent and the food is beautifully cooked and presented by the two very talented guys who run it. Definitely worth a visit.

I went to Mendikoa with 6 friends recently and had a great meal. Every course was very good, as was the presentation. The restaurant has a good feel and buzz and the cost was reasonable for quality of food. Definitely recommend. Our best meal in Tignes . Photos are of a trout tartare starter and turbot and squid main course

We had a delicious meal last week. We had mussels and scallops as starters both of which were extremely tasty and beautifully presented. We both had tartiflette as a main course. It was a huge portion which suited my husband but was a bit big for me however it was also delicious. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. A great restaurant for both quality and value.

Recommended by a local to eat prime rib. Verdict: excellent!!!! Hearty dish for 2. The pig’s trotter croquettes as an aperitif and the homemade Basque cake are delicious too!!! The relaxed mountain atmosphere of the place and the 4 super nice friends who run the place made us have an excellent evening 🤗
Book and go there if you are in Tignes!!

Every time we stay in Tignes we go to Mendikoa, it’s always a pleasure and a delight for the taste buds. The dishes are generous with great combinations! Impeccable and courteous service. To do and redo! We will come back

Amazing, 10/10!! I'm a seasonal worker in Tignes, and I went there twice because I loved it so much, even before trying the other restaurants that were recommended to me. It's always very hard to make a choice because the whole menu is tempting. The best restaurant in Tignes! And even the best restaurant I have ever eaten in!! Even their towels smelled good!! Milesker txapeldun Mendikoa!

Excellent food, lovely restaurant. Owner and staff very friendly and rightly proud of what they are doing here. The prices also are very good (especially for food of this quality in a Tignes).
We ate here twice this week and am looking forward to eating here again when I return in April!!
