MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

Pay little attention to the unremarkable façade of this restaurant, as the main focus is on the pretty dining room with its exposed beams and open fire...

We had a most beautiful meal in Le Tire Bouchon. The location is certainly off the beaten track but please do make the effort to find it. The food is of the highest quality and each dish is created with care, attention to detail and...inventiveness (I really don't understand one of the previous reviewer's comment). This is excellent food at an extremely reasonable price in unpretentious surroundings.More

I have a bit of a conundrum with Le Tire-Bouchon: all the ingredients of the various meals were great, but the cuisine itself is really very traditional. At this price point this bothers me as I would expect more inventiveness. Next time hopefully

Although not the prettiest street in Lorient, the minute you walk in the door of Le Tire Bouchon you are in a comfortable and relaxing place. The attention to detail is obvious and this is reflected in the food. Classically french, beautifully presented and tastes...as good as it looks. It is a small restaurant (bijou I think is the word), maybe no more than 25 covers, but the tables are well spaced and offer privacy without loosing atmosphere. You can choose from set menus (€30 to €42) or á la carte and an the wine list offers an excellent range at reasonable prices. A great place for both small groups and couples and if you are looking for a romantic evening, then this is the place. You can expect to pay some €40 to €60 per head but I suggest that this is good value for this standard of food. Highly recommended.More

We have been to the Festival Interceltique on many occasions, and had heard good reviews from friends. After reviewing on Trip Advisor, I decided to book a table for 5 on the Sunday evening. I was delighted they could accommodate, and looked forward to the...meal. We weren't disappointed. Fantastic food, beautifully presented and delicious to eat - punctuated by bonus courses to enjoy. Great wine selection to accompany the meal. Service was friendly and attentive, and there was a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely return next year, now we know where it is (it is not near the "main strip" which might account for it being slightly less busy than I would have expected for a restaurant of that standard.. or it might be the restaurant is not normally open on a Sunday - it was because of the Festival). I would highly recommend. Merci.More
