This is a really traditional Odenwald restaurant. It's family run and the staff are reliably always and helpful. The menu is full of the typical odenwald dishes, with seasonal variations. There is a good range for kids as well as options for smaller portions and for vegetarians. In the hot summer the temperatures here are a welcome relief and both the terrace with sun shades and the conservatory with the removable windows are very pleasant to sit in and enjoy the local fare and drinks. It's cash only.

We tried to get the table form this restaurant and they are always fully booked especially in summer, they have good foods, but I had homemade sausage which is good.

I don't understand the reviews here. I've known the restaurant for 40 years, when there used to be very good food. Today, as I did the she, schnitzel from the deep fryer, finished potato dumplings from the pack that lie in the water for hours etc. I will certainly not get there anymore and will look for a restaurant after the hike where it does not taste like canteen. The value for money would be right if the food were freshly prepared. With the mass of people, however, this is no longer possible.

Hiking at 32 degrees in the midday sun about 1.5 hours to the forest restaurant Altlechtern. They looked at us for sure that we were thirsty and yet were not served for 15 minutes. The few other guests looked more like motorists and, even if they came after us, were served immediately. We just left then.

High above Fürth/ Odenwald there is in the Forest the traditional Gasthaus.
You cannot pay with credit card , but you can gourmet what you call Odenwälder Spezialitäten and Apfelwein.
The place is still family operated . Outside you view the paddock with horses and sheep , occasional you spot a dear .
Many hikers or bikers stop also moon their way to Hammelbach there .
Any time , we stop we enjoy it , independent of the season

We like this restaurant. Good steaks, but also regional dishes and exotic dishes like Känguru or something like that. The restaurant also is a good place to hike too.
