Houwhoek is supposed to be famous for its pies. That is why we stopped there. Sorry guys - pepper steak pie was a huge disappointment. Thick tasteless crust. Forced myself to eat half. Please, please get a new recipe for your crust!! You have everything...going for you!! Can not be that difficult? My wife had the tomato bredie which was ok, but the rice had a very bad after-taste. In contrast- the farm stall is superb. Beautifully presented food which seems to be of the highest quality. Fruit and vegetables looked outstanding. Bought some delicious biscuits. It's just those pies (and rice) 🥧 😞More

Was treated with a drive and breakfast at Houw hoek coffee shop. Nice cozy place, food okay, staff attentive. Bought pies afterwards and that was the highlight. Plenty meat in a good gravy in a to die for pastry.

This delightful place does what it says in the pics. We had a delicious lunch made even more enjoyable thanks to great service in the restaurant and gorgeous abundant options in the accompanying shop, again with energetic enthusiastic friendly staff. You clearly work hard and...it is noticed! The way the fresh foods are displayed is so enticing. Parking, a reasonable number of well managed toilets….so much more than a pitstop - thank you and our best wishes for ‘23.More

On our way to Gansbaai this was our pitstop. Not only is it home to the famous Houw Hoek pies, but easily one of the most affordable farm stalls in the province. Their baked tarts and breakds are equally amazing.

We have always loved and looked forward to the houwhoek farm stall . We were happily surprised in the new renovations, the butcher and the coffee station . Sadly there was only meat pies available at 8 am and not a veggie pie in sight.... The coffee was super great but we were surprised by the plastic lids ? Surely you have got the Cape Town memo by now ? We ended up getting toasted sarmies from the resturant which were delicious, but on polystyrene trays. Come on houwhoek get with the recycling times . Eco friendly packaging options and some Veggie pies please .More

The sausage roll with olives and sun-dried tomato is next level. So is the Bobotie pies and pasta del natas. The coffee to pair is one of my favourite coffees I had in SA

The coffee was nice but my only problem is the lemon meringue cake the meringue was old and tasted awful and the portion size was small and seemed like the waiters didn't know the portion size because when we asked what size is the portion...before we decided to order it they couldn't give us an answer otherwise we enjoyed the atmosphereMore

My family and I(hubby and 2 year old son) stopped at this coffee shop on our way to our holiday in the garden route What a pleasant experience, we had a lovely outside seating area. We stopped for breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious...(the freshly made farm style bread and variety of home made style jams. The gooseberry jam was my absolute favourite) We loved that the park was right there for our sun to enjoy. On our way out we purchased some goodies from the farmstall, and the amazing fudge stood out the most Lovely family experienceMore

Such a delight! We stopped there on our way back from Cape Town. The breakfast menu is exciting, there is even Kippers on the menu. I had the eggs Benedict and it was delicious. Afterwards we popped over to the farmstall and purchased jams, spanakopitas...and a fresh milk tart, all tastes exceptional.More

This was a quick stop to stretch our legs and have a cuppa and scones. There is parking available. The place seems very popular and really busy. Outside and inside area to eat and drink. Plastic chairs and table. We sat outside which overlooks the...car park. So it can be quite dusty due to the road and cars driving past. The scones were massive and you can share one. Coffee was satisfactory. Lovely little onsite shop with all sorts of farm style gifts and products. Found them to be a little too pricey tbh.More
