I do not usually write reviews however this was so great I felt compelled to leave one this time. We had an absolutely delicious & very reasonable 3 course lunch at this lovely restaurant. The food was all tasty regional dishes made with local produce....The owners were extremely friendly & made us feel very welcome, translating the menu for us & recommending places for us to visit during our stay. Anyone visiting St montan should definitely stop for a bite to eat here. The wonderful ambience & delightful owners made this a truly great experience.More

Lovely homemade lunch including salmon mousse, asparagus pie and lamb. Being English speakers, we found the service provided by the owners, friendly and helpful. Although the location is on the main road of town, outdoor dining was pleasant. Would definitely recommend and return.

My husband and I were so happy to stumble upon this place and get a table on a Saturday night. The food was different and delicious, the service perfect. We enjoyed the local cuisine on an outside patio nicely lit and very pretty. Everyone was...friendly, including the other diners. We highly recommend and will definitely go back.More

Lovely outdoor area (on the main road) in a beautiful period village. Such a shame that from the minute we walked in, the owner and waiters (not the young man) were so rude. Very restricted menu, poor food (apart from the ice cream which is...the only thing not home made). We were a table of 8 and between all of us we tried all 3 starters, main courses, cheese (one choice) and puddings. The goat cheese tart is dry and test less, the pan fried caillette is dry even with the sauce, the tartare is not a steak tartare at all, just chopped beef (poor meat quality) with a parsley and wild garlic, even the side salad and dressing are test less. The chicken main course was huge and eatable but nothing special. €24 for the menu also make it expensive for the area and the quality of the food you get. Sorry for such a bad review but we really didn’t enjoy the experience at all. PS: If the lady owner ask you why you left all your food on the plate, don’t bother explaining to her because for her everything is perfect and it is not possible that it wasn’t good. Never again!More

The Cagney’s had a lovely evening with our family there including our 3 younger children. Although there is no ‘childrens’ menu Our children loved the chicken dish and there wasn’t a moan all evening. In fact the ice cream sorbets were amazing! The owners are...really friendly and it was lovely that the owner/chef came out to talk to us all. A great atmosphere, highly recommended and great value too. Would definitely visit again. Thank you for not serving up pizza and chips!More

What an experience! Started with us driving by a small village looking for wifi and noticed a nice face staring and waiving out at us! We stopped and went in.....stayed for 4hrs! The owners are very friendly, helpful, talkative and easygoing!!! The food was really...really good local French cuisine!!!!! Oh and the Music was really great too!!! Not bad for a cold, rainy December day! Couldn't get better!More

We dropped in by chance on a rainy day in December to look for WiFi and a coffee, and ended up finding ourselves enjoying a delightful few hours eating, listening to good music and being taken care of by the loveliest host couple. We stayed...for a delicious traditional lunch, all made from local ingredients. And the village is exceptionally picturesque too. Highly recommended.... and I never write reviews on trip advisor!More

One of the most personalised dinner experiences ever! Hospitable couple from the French north offering you a relatively limited but great menu escorted (surprise!) not only with wine but a great variety of special beers. It is not a cheap restaurant (rather mid-range) but worth...every penny of it for unique evenings with great discussions! Be careful on open days (closed on Mon-Tues normally)More

We stopped at Le P'tit Bistrot for dinner during a long road trip and their lovely owners made us feel like home. The food was simply delicious: don't miss their "caillette", a local specialty which they serve with a yummy herb sauce. Even our 1-year...old enjoyed the dinner, as the place and their owners Madeleine and Michel are baby-friendly. I'm already looking forward to our next long trip so that we can stop at the picturesque village of St Montan and enjoy the P'tit Bistrot again!More
