This review concerns The Garden Gate Cafe only. We came here with high hopes, but left knowing it was not worth the bother. It’s expensive to park and the food is unremarkable. The scones, of which so much is made, were ordinary at best. The...More

Thank you for visiting. We now have ten short stay car park spaces right next door. 60 p per hour. I am delighted you enjoyed the soup and our cafe service. I am surprised you did not like the scones most people rave about them

Small cafe that has easy parking, tucked away from the busy part of Durham. If it is a nice day, they have a fabulous sun terrace at the back of the cafe. We visit regularly to enjoy their fantastic smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches...More

The Café is situated at the entrance to Crook Hall & Gardens and we are extremely happy with this new addition to our beautiful site. With a welcoming reception area, quirky shop and inside/outside seating areas to enjoy the food and drinks, The Garden Gate is a lovely place to spend time with family and friends. The building itself is a warm welcome to all our visitors coming to pay and see Crook Hall and Gardens but the new café and shop doesn't require any payment for entrance. Dogs are welcome in the sun terrace.
