My partner and I visited the Cambium restaurant twice during our stay, for dinner and for breakfast. The service was poor overall, there was a one hour wait between our starter and main when we asked we were told they were busy which is fine...but someone should have said there was a delay. We also noticed other couples asking the same question. When the food did arrive it was delicious however my partners steak was cold so must have been left on the side for a while before it was brought out to us. We did complain and it was reheated. The waiting staff were pleasant and apologetic but for an expensive restaurant the service was poor overall plus they added a 12.5% service charge on. The atmosphere was also quite poor lack of music and the restaurant just seemed empty. Breakfast was poorly managed everyone is asked what time slot they want due to covid however don’t select the 10am slot as everything was gone! No fruit and yoghurt no sausages and bacon! I feel that they should have enough food to serve everyone at all times for breakfast.More

My wife had a long weekend at Carys’s Manor and ate here on the first night. It is a lovely quiet restaurant with wonderful staff. Food was excellent. We had duck and tiger prawns. Then cod and lamb. We stay chatting until late without feeling...as though had to leave. Very nice.More

A lunch time treat dining here with a family friend. A warm welcome was received before the difficult task of food choices from the small, but interesting lunch menu as all dishes were tempting 😀 All three courses were delicious with much thought gone into...mixing flavours and presentation with the added bonus of a continued discount given by the restaurant following the Dine Out scheme. The restaurant was fairly busy on a Thursday lunch time and we look forward to a return visit .... soon.More

We were staying at the hotel and dined here. Excellent menu. Staff were very attentive. Food was delicious. Wines expensive but it’s not a cheap hotel. Would recommend.

A fantastic meal, service and more. We were staying at Carey’s Manor and this was the first of two restaurants we dined at there. The menu is varied, the dishes may sound simple but they are elevated to fine dining levels......superb, clever and so delicious!...Every moment and each mouthful was sheer pleasure!More

We ate here on 2 evenings when staying at the hotel. While our stay was enjoyable (see separate hotel review) this restaurant is the weak link in the operation. The staff can’t be faulted. They are all happy and dedicated and their personality comes through...despite masks. The sommelier Michael deserves a special mention. His enthusiasm for all things alcohol is wonderful and he has an extensive wine list to work with. The environment is very pleasant with contemporary decor and excellent lighting. It is also quite spacious which works in a Covid world. However the food selection is odd in that the selection does not match these high standards. The menu is dominated by comfort food items - burger, fried chicken etc which would work better in a more casual environment and the selection of a la carte items is minimal. The beef wellington special my wife had on our first night was poor. It was not as good as an M&S ready meal. On our second night, realising we were not going to get a gourmet meal, we both shared an excellent mezze plate and had a tasty fish and chipsMore

Having read previous reviews, perhaps we had high expectations for this restaurant’s food, but if we ever go back, it will be for the staff alone. The floor manager and staff were very courteous and friendly. They have a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable house sommelier,...who is happy to tell you about the wine selection and provide interesting insights into the different types of wine available. They were very nice wines by the glass, which is not usually common. Unfortunately, we cannot speak much for the food. We had two meals at this restaurant, and perhaps only one dish and one side was good. The food was overall very bland, apart from a couple of things that were actually salty. There seemed to be a frustrated attempt at being imaginative in the way the food was presented and in the combination of ingredients, but overall we cannot say they were successful. We wondered whether the main chef was not working at the time, because were so surprised to see previous good reviews.More

We had lunch here whilst staying in the hotel and couldn't fault the food or service. It was quiet, which nice but surprising as the weather was awful that day. The waiters were very attentive and helpful, the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend visiting...if staying here!More
