‘Nice’ food, but didn’t live up to the hype! We got an early table, as it was all they had left, so as the only ones in the restaurant one would expect the food to be spot on. Starters were ‘ok’ - forgiving the fact...the scallops were forgotten and dropped on the table on a side plate a few minutes after the starter was served, it was the scallop & king prawn starter (frozen prawns are unforgivable and utterly tasteless). The frozen prawn theme continued with the other starter. Mains, both sea bass, were cooked wonderfully - albeit we had an issue with a foreign body on one of them, which in fairness the restaurant immediately removed from the bill. The rose, chateau gairoid, was pitched as light and crisp, £39, but was positively acidic. Lovely clean restaurant, no doubt we just hit a ‘bumpy night’. Give it a go, but pls tell the chef frozen prawns are lame.More

Two of us tried starters which were good. The main courses were good too. Up till that point, service had been attentive, warm and friendly. But, then our server preferred to chat with a couple at another table and we were left stranded, with dessert...menus from which we had chosen, as though in automatic gears. And, we waited and waited for far too long. So we gave up on the idea of desserts, asked for the bill, settled up and left, not feeling upset but instead thinking that server chat probably did us a favour as we did not really need the desserts.More

We returned to Lanes as part of our annual trip to Lymington. Our lunch today was up to their usual high standard. The Lamb was perfectly prepared and the Duo of Chocolate Dessert was a great way to finish the meal. Peter and Nicola have...maintained the very high standards that we have come to expect. We strongly recommend this restaurant and the friendly and professional service.More

Came down to Lymington for the weekend with my girlfriend and found this place on Tripadvisor as the number one best restaurant in town, and we were not disappointed! A family run restaurant with wonderful food and super friendly and proactive service. After a prawn...salad to start we both had sea bream (freshly sourced from a local fish monger) which was perfectly cooked in a lovely sauce with fresh vegetables. Dessert I had the a very moist bread and butter pudding and my girlfriend had the creme brûlée. The house rose wine was cracking too! The restaurant is situated in what used to be a church just off the beautiful Lymington High Street, which gave us ample opportunity to browse the shops and walk off our lovely meal. I highly recommend!More

On holiday in Lymington, we ate here last night and had one of the best overall dining experiences we can recall. Great welcome from staff who were fantastic throughout the evening. It all felt very COVID safe without this being obtrusive. The restaurant space itself...is very attractive. Most importantly, all the food was 'off the scale' - fantastic ingredients and prepared and presented with expertise and love. All in all a most wonderful experience. Lucky Lymington residents!More

Just finished enjoying the best delivered meal ever, the Moroccan Lamb and Medallions of Beef Fillet were fantastic. We'll be regular customers throughout lockdown and look forward to visiting the restaurant when things open up.

Nicola dropped off two fantastic meals for us as lockdown meant restaurant closed. Amazing delivery, the meals were plated, hot and straight out of the oven to our front door. Restaurant standard in our home! Worth every penny. Our meals were spectacular! Thankyou

We have just had a 4-course meal delivered from the valentines weekend menu. What a treat! The food was absolutely delicious- as good as eating in at the restaurant (my favourite place to eat in Lymington when we’re allowed to eat out). While we’re restricted...to take-aways, I highly recommend Lanes’ deliveries for anyone who wants to have a special night without the hassle of cooking and washing up. Then when they re-open, go and eat there! Nicola and Peter are amazing at what they do. Thank you both.More
