Visited here for coffee and cake a couple of times. Excellent for both. Surroundings very quirky and interesting. A must visit place if you are in Hay.

There are plenty of good cafes in Hay, but this one stands out as it is a cafe come nick nack shop selling an eclectic variety of goods. The tables and chairs for food and drink are randomly scattered throughout the shop in books and...More

We visited Hay-On-Wye during our October half term. We found this coffee shop, which is quirky and interesting. The coffee shop occupies a part of the actual shop, which sells all sorts of lovely books, clothing and crafts/gifts. The coffee was good and whilst we...More

We visited here based on the strength of reviews and wanting somewhere vegetarian to eat. The menu is relatively small but well balanced and we both found food we wanted. The food came quite quickly and was absolutely delicious. I had ramen noodles in a...More

I have now been seven times to The Old Electric and it has always been delicious and fun. Good vegan choices. The carrot cake, the donuts, the muffins are the best in Hay. The luch time snacks are a good size and very fresh

Another cafe in the town recommended this place as they couldn't cater for wheat free. We hadn't realised it was a cafe, as from the outside just looked like a shop only. Inside was very quirky and full of interesting merchandise. We ordered the crushed...More

The sandwiches hit the spot - quality ingredients put together in delicious combinations. We had the aubergine pepper and the hummus date sandwich. Cool space to browse while waiting for the food. Recommended.

The Old Electric Shop has it all. General collectable, modern, antiques, coffee shop. It’s split up into different sections, like a traditional Market. Pretty sure it’s all different traders. Great little Hat shop in there. It’s well worth calling in, it as something for all. We...More
