Came here last night with a few friends for some food and drinks. Staff were attentive, great selection of beers available and the food was spot on. I’ve been to Counting House a fair few times only for drinks and it’s always got a good...atmosphere, but last night was the first time I’ve eaten here. Really good burgers and will definitely be returning.More

I'd of wrote this review on justeat but I was unable to. Ordered from here twice now and both times its been delicious! Second time ordering chips were missing, driver said he'd mention it, we never thought much of it, 5mins later and our chips...and pancakes arrive as an apology for missing them! Fantastic service! Best home made chips I've ever had aswel 👍 well done!More

Went for food, didn’t get sat down for 10 mins then didn’t get asked for a drink for 20 mins. Walked out, don’t know how you can run a place that doesn’t even ask you for a drink when you sit down. Absolutely uselessMore

After being to Grill Pit several times in the past throughly enjoying the food at atmosphere every time, we decided to visit again. Unfortunately we were very let down with their new premises (which is in a pub, had we have known we wouldnt have...driven from Leeds), and the service. The food wasn't up to its previous standards either. Expecting a nice meal with my partner and another couple we found the music in the bar was too loud to actually speak to each other without shouting loudly. The service was not great. Staff pulled masks down to speak to us and encroached on personal space several times. The cutlery given was dirty 3 times, sent back each time only to be brought more dirty cutlery. Finally on the 4th try we were provided with clean cutlery. Asking for more drinks ended up us having to ask 2 or 3 members of staff on each occasion as they clearly hadn't been put through. The food itself was good, but not as nice as it previously used to be. Unfortunately we won't be visiting again, as "pub grub" (and the poor service) isnt really what we want or would expect. I feel they've certainly let themselves down, which is a shame.More

Dale, Thank you for your reviews on Facebook & TripAdvisor and apologise you didn't enjoy your experience. I will certainly be speaking to staff regarding dirty cutlery and ensuring they are vigilant. We moved venues in February 2020 and share the building with the Counting...More

Returning here from a disappointing experience, myself and my partner were absolutely over the moon that the Grill Pit at the Counting House was back to the amazing quality of food and service we were used to. We were served by Simon, the manager, and...he was a great host, checking in on us and always making sure we had drinks. The other waiting staff were all courteous and polite too, which is a bonus. The food is easily the best bit of the Grill Pit kitchen (see pictures). I can't say I've ever had Ribs as good as I've had here, really tender and very tasty. My partner had the Pig Out Platter, which truthfully is enough for two people if you have one the well priced starters. The 2 for £10 cocktail offer on Friday/Saturdays is a good pointer too, as the drink we had were really well made and tasted brilliant. Will definitely be returning in the future and thanks to Simon for reaching out to us last time!More

Booked a meal online for what we thought was Monday 24 August...only to realise the night before we’d accidentally booked the Sunday and missed our table. I wrote to Grill Pit to apologise. They replied immediately and were really understanding, and managed to get us...in on the 24th. I’m so glad they did. The food was amazing! I had the hog burger & swine fries & they were just delicious. I love a condiment and they had loads on offer. Coleslaw & onion rings were super tasty too. Staff were so friendly and attentive - we’ll definitely be going back! Thanks for a great evening 🍔☺️More

Having advertised itself as a continuation of the Grill Pit, now based in the Counting House instead (lovely venue) and having gone to the old Grill Pit perhaps once a month as we enjoyed it so much, it is fair to say our experience tonight...was disappointing to say the least. Our table was booked for 6:15. We had drinks and our order taken around the 6:20 mark. It then took 40 minutes for our starters to arrive. Another couple next to us confirmed that they had been waiting around the same time as us, and then another hour for their mains. The main meals then arrived around 8:15/8:20, nearly two hours after ordering our meal. The food that came was somewhat overdone, the kebab was cold as well, however by the time we received it, our evening was ruined and the experience wasted. I cannot fault the waiting staff too much, they were very apologetic and confirmed they would be disappointed and that their evenings would have been ruined as well based on our experience. Fortunately the supervisor/manager on at the time realised our visit had been subpar at best and considering we didn't eat much of our mains as a whole, they removed the mains from our bill. While I understand that the £10/50% off offer means that it has less impact monetary wise to the customer, the restaurant/sports bar/whatever you want to call it, is still getting paid the full amount. The service we received did not nearly meet the expectations of basic decency we expect at any restaurant/bar, let alone an establishment using the Grill Pit as a selling point. Very disappointed with our evening. Plenty of other places that deserve a customer's hard earned money, would suggest looking elsewhere until TripAdvisor shows better reviews.More
