Happy Raja was full, so we were advised to try out Nitzana. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive. They adapted the food to our spicy taste and the manager was very friendly with lots of advice about Mauritius. Overall a great evening!

As a guest, I was treated with much kindness, respect, and politeness. The food was served quickly, and warm. The dishes were simply fresh, tasty, and scrumptious. Thus, I went twice in 3 days. I had a tasting of rums made infused with different flavors such as vanilla, coffee, litchis, strawberry: it was simply delicious. Hiron, Sunny, Mann, and Miraj were wonderful hosts. Thank you.

We took a chance and walked into this restaurant which is situated in the hotel grounds. We were not disappointed. The location was just down the road from the Toparadis apartments where we are staying. The restaurant is very well decorated and the staff were very welcoming. Our food was really lovely. I had a prawn dish with roti and my Husband had a chicken tandoori dish with a garlic naan bread. We eat a lot of curries in the UK and this one was at the top of our list and we will definately come back here again

Not baby friendly as there are no baby chairs. We were offered a variety of appetizers with very small portions of chutneys. When we asked for more, they said the chutneys are chargeable. The service was extremely slow. We obtained our starters 35minutes after ordering and the starters are per person and not to be shared as the portions are little for the price they charge (highly priced). The main dishes took another 50 minutes to arrive and that too, after several reminders. No waiters came to check on us whether we are okay or require anything else. We had to chase them to attend to us. The ambiance was boring, no music, no nothing. It was a surprise birthday hence we brought our cake for dessert. We requested for the cake which also arrived 15mins late. Only cakes and plates were provided. We had to chase to obtain spoons. Highly unprofessional and disappointing. There are much better indian restaurant which serves better food and with better service around the island such as Happy Rajah and Sitar. This was such a disaster. When we complained to the waiter about the service, they blamed us for having ordered late, whilst we only took additional 10 minutes to order. Not professional at all and hight discourage people to go there.

I went there for dinner along with my family. We got a nice welcome. The plate of papar and sauces looked tempting. We ordered various dishes and all the portions were really small compared to other Indian restaurants. In the prawn dish, there were 6 (really tiny) prawns. In the chicken dish, there were 5 small pieces, the dish was cold, the chicken was tasteless as the masala didnt get inside the chicken. Chicken tasted unfresh. Some of the dishes were either cold or at room temperature as if they were cooked from before and not heated well. Why cant fresh produce be used along with freshly grounded curries? I was very surprised to see I paid Rs 160 for a glass of lemon juice and Rs 90 for a glass of coca cola. Lemon juice is just water, little lemon juice, ice and sugar so why Rs 160??? Some of the naan bread were burnt. The waiters were Bangladeshis, and very difgucult to communicate with them as they dont speak english, french, hindi or mauritian creole. The AC in the restaurant was not functioning well. Its was very hot and suffocating. Though we told them to switch on the ceiling fan and increase the ventilation of the AC, room was still very hot. Changes need to be made to improve food quality and quantity. Decrease the lemon juice price to atleast Rs 90 as no one will accept such an unreasonable price. Improve the air conditioning system as we dont want to stay in a poorly aerated place during Covid. Also other indian restaurants employ Mauritians/ Nepalis or Indians and these staff have no problems in communicating to customers. Were your Bangladeshis waiters trained in the hospitality sector? Why did you employ waiters who are not fluent in any spoken language of Mauritius? Please make changes so that we can come there again.

I have been to Nitzana on several occasions. The food preparation & presentation has always impressed me. I have indulged in mostly vegetarian dishes however the seafood & meat dishes are also delicious. The only downside for me is the jackfruit as advertised on the menu has never been available. I am eager to try this. Also, kudos to the staff who are always friendly & efficient. Nitzana is a firm favorite for me.

Recommended by a friend and now recommended to many people by me! I think that says a lot, especially when people tell me: Thank you for introducing us to Nitzana! Been there a few times over the past 3 years now! The food and service are excellent. Very chilled out atmosphere. Chef is very accommodating for vegan options too! If you haven't been there yet, well, you should! You are missing out on excellent food!

Worst experience ever! The apartment smell so bad. It doesn't have a hygiene. Even the pool is so small, one family already occupied the place. It's cheap yes but it doesn't mean that it must be dirty. If you're a clean freak i don't recommend at all.

Excellent food, so good in fact that we visited two times during our 2 week holiday. The staff was polite and the place was full of local people. Thumbs up! We didn't need a reservation both times we visited.

Ate here last night at around 7pm, filled up very quickly and by the time we left it was very busy, with many Asian families and a large group of what we believe were local people which is always a good sign. We only found this place by doing a ‘Tripadvisor’ restaurants near me. Food quality was excellent and the premises very clean, the kitchen has a glass front a little like an aquarium for the chefs but always reassuring from a customer perspective. The main dishes are very different to UK menus, ie not your usual chicken tikka Marsala, rogan Josh, Jalfrezzi, madras etc….. but a good choice of fish, lamb, chicken, vegetarian etc with a description as to what it is (no mention of ‘how hot’ though which would be helpful). Prices at the time I write were comparable with UK with about £8.00 for a main dish plus extra for rice, naan etc. I had a local draft beer (it’s 330ml not a pint) my wife had one pin-a colada, she had a Roti, I had a garlic naan (nothing like Uk and more like a chappati) I had. Tandoori chicken type curry and my wife a prawn type curry which did not come in a sauce so a little dry but she says very tasty, portions were smaller than the Uk and next time I will have rice as well and maybe a starter - cost was about £28 for what we had. Friendly staff although a little slow to provide the bill which we asked for, although they were catering for many other customers so it wasn’t a problem. Would I come back? Yes definitely

Some notable points: - Excellent staff, helpful and very polite. - Wide choice of starters, main courses and deserts - Food tasted very fresh even if service was quite fast. - Pleasant, calm atmosphere. Decor is minimal but comfortable. - Food quantity for the price was good. Price is slightly above what you'll find elsewhere but variety and quality trades this off. - Food can be spiced up or down depending on taste on request. - The naan serving is large (they cut it in 3 pieces each). - Non-alcoholic cocktails are very reasonably priced and a delight to drink, although the alcoholic ones are a bit on the high side. As of this review date, you can count an average Rs 1,100 per person for 4 starter plates, 5 non-alcoholic cocktails, 4 soft drinks, a lassi, 4 main dishes, 1 rice portion, 1 dal portion, 4 garlic naan portions. We felt very full at the end and had some leftover which the staff happily packed for us to take away. Overall, we thoroughly loved the experience and will definitely come back again.
