Loved te maine lobster. Langoustine were grilled perfectly. Langoustine from Iceland are great in taste. Never leave iceland without eating langoustine! Old building, nicely maintained restaurant. Don’t expect haute cuisine, just straight foreward good food. Service attentive. No complaints.

Although we had great service and the place itself was very cute, the food was just ok. Not worth the price point IMHO.

Restaurant is located in a very cute what looks to be an old home. There’s private dining areas upstairs. The service was impeccable. The lobster is truly as described very sweet and tender, melts in your mouth.

Food is good but extremely pricey, one of the many old buildings in Reykjavik. 150 years old. Very nice presentation. Conveniently located. Enjoy

Description
In 1838 the land- and town sheriff Stefán Gunnlaugsson built the building. It has through the ages hosted famous Icelanders like Hannes Hafstein and Stefan Thorarensen. By 1970, the houses in Berntoftstorfu were capacity, the intention then being that they would be demolished and government offices built in their place. Before this came to be, a battle for the buildings preservation was held. It lasted for about a decade, but all the while the houses decayed and parts of them caught fire. In this house alone there were three different fire during the period of the preservation battle. After much struggle the Torfusamtok were finally victorious and got to rent the houses from the state with restoration and preservation as their main goal. The success of their work is apparent to visitors who come here.
