This is the worst rip off in town. 13,300ISK for a so called main meal which was a small starter in reality is a rip off in any country, totally not worth going to

We ate dinner here and were surprised by the overpriced food, it would have been different if the food would have been worth it but it was nowhere near the level of quality you would expect.

Table bread and butter was terribly cold and tasteless. Service was average. When I asked for salt I thought sea salt flakes would come but it's just a pair of regular salt pepper grinder. Langoustines and lobster main was cooked well and yummy. Lamb was...More

After the food we had in Reykyavik our trip here was somewhat underwhelming, if ignoring the outdated decor and service service, or the layers of dust that sat on the windowsills and ornaments, you can only expect rescue from the food. Granted the langostines known...More

Went to the restaurant on our second last day in Reykjavík. By the price the restaurant could certainly be classified as fine dining and the food had all the right flavour but service was not fine dining.

Lobster soup was ok, tiny tiny pieces of lobster (seriously a tablespoon total) and charge you 2900 isk! Restaurant had maybe 15 people and service was ridiculously slow.. over an hour from appetizer to main course! Couples were upset who hadn’t been waited on after...More

Meat was tough, do not recommend. Langoustine was delicious, and plentiful. Do reccommend for a nice night out!

This place is nice if you want a nice place to go out to dinner for the evening. Of course, like everything else in Iceland, it is rather expensive, but the food is good, and the atmosphere and presentation is nice. Waitstaff was also courteous.

In 1838 the land- and town sheriff Stefán Gunnlaugsson built the building. It has through the ages hosted famous Icelanders like Hannes Hafstein and Stefan Thorarensen. By 1970, the houses in Berntoftstorfu were capacity, the intention then being that they would be demolished and government offices built in their place. Before this came to be, a battle for the buildings preservation was held. It lasted for about a decade, but all the while the houses decayed and parts of them caught fire. In this house alone there were three different fire during the period of the preservation battle. After much struggle the Torfusamtok were finally victorious and got to rent the houses from the state with restoration and preservation as their main goal. The success of their work is apparent to visitors who come here.
