We had read reviews on this restaurant and sought it out when we arrived in Reykjavik. We were not disappointed. The batter was lovely and crispy and the fish was fresh. It was a large portion for french fries and fish with a nice salad...More

One of Reykjavik’s oldest restaurants and still serving the best fish & chips. Excellent service and great value for money. A must place to visit for a meal out.

In a town where food is expensive, we were glad to try a modestly-priced option. (Some of our favorite eating places have been dives). Reykjavík has some great Fish & Chip places and we were hunting for one, but this wasn’t it. The portions are...More

Walked in this little gem thinking it was just a local diner. I was pleasantly surprised it was a local fish restaurant. Although I did not get to sample all of the menu (went back a few times), the lamb steak and fish & chips...More

Stopped unexpectedly for dinner with family as plan A didn't work out. The menu is small with about 10 total items that were mostly seafood based. All five entrees were excellent, with the seafood soup and fish pan the best of the group, and probably...More

We had dinner here overlooking a floodlit harbour scene. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. For Reykjavík it was about average for food and drink prices but worth it for the quality of food. We drank beer. The fish & chips...More

The Kaffivagninn has a humble outside, but serves the freshest fish you can imagine. The staff is very friendly, service is more than quick, we got our dishes about 10 minutes after ordering. The focus is on fish, but the potatoes and fries are precisely...More

My wife and I recently ate here based upon some recent reviews for fish and chips. Maybe it was an off night. The fish and chips were good, but not great. They were, however, pretty expensive.

Stumbled upon this place. Wow. Simply wow. They say that they are the oldest restaurant in Iceland. Great place. Lots of locals.
