Food was good, without any doubt. Atmosphere in the restaurant was good and moody. Price level as typical in Iceland. Service unfortunately was not what you would expect in such restaurant. Our waitress seemed to be bored and uninterested. Not that it is important, but...More

Great food and atmosphere. Had the shared appetizer platter with minke whale, pig belly, tuna and char. Steak for dinner, was very good, grilled perfectly! Staff was helpful and good at their job. Will recommend to friends that visit Reykjavik. Bit pricy but well worth...More

We had the mixed appetizer - tuna, pork belly, minke whale, arctic char. The whale and arctic char were fantastic, the other two just ok. The smoked arctic char just melted in your mouth, and the whale had the taste of herring with a soft...More

We thought we try some steak while in Iceland and this place seemed like the place to go for it. We were not disappointed. Great service and food. Had an amazing tenderloin and baked potato. Would highly recommend trying this spot out. Our hotel made...More

Had a T-Bone Steak there and it was really good. Service was extremely friendly. It’s absolutely worth a visit.

We had a birthday dinner here, so expecting to splurge. The cheapest bottle of wine is 5900 Kr (about C$75) and the price escalates from there. They were out of horse so we stuck to the steaks. They have a wide selection of cuts and...More

Having seen the reviews here on trip advisor we decided to eat in the Steakhouse on our first night in Iceland. We arrived at about 7:00pm on a Saturday and were told that a table would be available in under 10 minutes. We had a...More

We are sorry to say that we didn't enjoy this restaurant. It was highly recommended but was very expensive for value received. Both ribeyes my wife and I ate were rather tough and had too much waste for the price. I was looking forward to...More

Description
A five story concrete building that once housed offices on the upper floors and a metalwork company on the ground floor, now is the home of restaurant The Steakhouse on the ground floor, the four floors above are now apartments. The old harbor area of Reykjavik has in the last couple of years, changed in to a real gem where various cuisines, museums and arts and crafts have replaced the metalworks and fisheries. The newest addition is STEIKHÚSIÐ, which simply means „The Steak House”. The name is a deliberately this simple and descriptive, the aim is to be the only steakhouse you think of after the first visit. The heart of Steikhúsið is the coal oven from Mibrasa and the soul is our own way of tendering meat for at least 28 days. Those who seek for something purely Icelandic won’t be disappointed, Steikhúsið also caters to those who want the best of Icelandic lamb and fish.
