This is by far the best steakhose in Iceland and I visit it frequently. Not only is the food excellent but the service is very personal. Good selections of great wines. Never had a bad meal there.

Upon walking into this restaurant, I immediately noticed the ambiance or should I say lack of. The floors were a tacky type of wood and the tables in close proximity to other's. You could tell the restaurant was going for the "rustic" look but failed...More

Went twice and both times the quality was very good. Very good and tender meat along with side orders of high quality. Service was good and knowledgeable and their wine and beer selection good. Recommended

Went here on our last night in Iceland. For Londoners I am sure we find everything in Iceland way too expensive. We paid in total about £360 for four people. Two of which chose the best and larger portions of beef. We all got one...More

Just had an amazing three course menu and was very impressed. Amazing starter with whale, ribs and tuna, perfect lamb and a nice dessert. Staff is friendly and attentive and took good care of us. Worth every penny.

Staff were fantastic and welcoming / friendly. We love our steak, but I was disappointed with the quality of our T- Bone although it had been cooked well. My partner had the lamb and whale that was fantastic! I would recommend to anyone!

Description
A five story concrete building that once housed offices on the upper floors and a metalwork company on the ground floor, now is the home of restaurant The Steakhouse on the ground floor, the four floors above are now apartments. The old harbor area of Reykjavik has in the last couple of years, changed in to a real gem where various cuisines, museums and arts and crafts have replaced the metalworks and fisheries. The newest addition is STEIKHÚSIÐ, which simply means „The Steak House”. The name is a deliberately this simple and descriptive, the aim is to be the only steakhouse you think of after the first visit. The heart of Steikhúsið is the coal oven from Mibrasa and the soul is our own way of tendering meat for at least 28 days. Those who seek for something purely Icelandic won’t be disappointed, Steikhúsið also caters to those who want the best of Icelandic lamb and fish.
