Inspired by our Lonely Planet guide, we decided to have an early 6pm dinner at Kouzina. If you eat early in Greece, you usually don’t have to many problems to have a table, which was the case here too. However, the place gets quite busy...after 9, so reservations are advised at that time. The menu looked promising and was difficult to choose from, so many tasty creative dishes! Finally we decided on the Marinated Ansjovy and the Cheviche to kick it off. It was sooooo good! The ansjovy were really freshly prepared, and all but the vacuum stuff you get in the supermarket. Also the ceviche was spot on, except that it could have been 2 or 3 degrees cooler, but the taste was top. Then we opted for the Smoked Moussaka and the Grilled Squid with Green Vegetables. Again two top dishes. I don’t know if it was them that invented the smoked moussaka, but if they did, they should get an award for this: it was amazing how a traditional greek dish was converted in a sensational new dish, very creative, tasty, yet keeping all the traditional flavour. Also teh squid was top notch. To drink, we had a sensational local wine, Ousyra, which really blended well with the food. Overall we were very happy with having dinner here. Prices are reasonable as well, it is not the cheapest of all, but you get amzing food, served by friendly staff, just next to the waterfront! We paid 100 euro for a wonderful dinner, which was good value for money in our opinion. We highly recommend this place.More
Kouzina Syros was one of my all time Greek favourites- so I was sad to hear it had closed, however just shortly before we came Anestis reinvented his place in a grand old building on the costal promenade- beautiful, more airy and spaced out Would...the kitchen live up to what we had in the maze of the old town? Spoiler alert first- some of the reviews here (pictures and food) seem to be for Syriany Kouzina, a more traditional tavern a few houses down as neither photos, nor comments reflect what can be had at Kouzina by the Sea – so make sure you find the right place to start with…. The nice crockery and glasses travelled well down the road and please other Greek restaurateurs- go there and have a glass of wine and then throw you glasses away and by the same they have- even very high end Greek restaurants do not have good wine glasses – Kouzina have and it makes a difference (especially if you fill them with the excellent Chardonnay from Ktima A as we did) Again 3 starters and 3 mains were ordered- and yes the food lived up to it A salad of beetroot with a light summery dressing changed the way I look at what I know as a winter vegetable for ever fresh moorish great 9/10 We also had greens a starter with a Cesar salad dressing which was even lighter and better 10/10 And the last starter For mains we had the excellent and known Osso Bucco with kritharotto; melt in the mouth as I remembered so had to have it despite 33 Celsius Goat made in the oven with Potatoes was also excellent and a dish which just tastes of a Cycladic island…. As before Anestis and his team’s service was spotless that he can deliver this quality of food for about 2/3 of the price as the local competition is unbelievable – thank you very much again Is this still the best restaurant in Syros- on balance for quality of what is on offer, service and price yes, and the new location has advantages of space and view if perhaps a little less charm than the old but others are catching up…..More
Thank you so much dear! Your words and review is our reward for our try to give to our customers the best. Hope to see you soon again!!!
Deliciously prepared fresh food, of the imaginative international cuisine type. Excellent wine pairing as well. Perhaps the best offering was their desserts - taking fine dining to the next level. Fine service too.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this restaurant given that it is right on the waterfront but the food was very good - some of the best fish I have had in a long time, and service was excellent.
We had to eat a bit earlier than what’s considered normal in Greece, but the staff was kind enough to seat us anyway. Every part of our meal was outstanding, and several of us throughly enjoyed the veal pappardelle. While the food was outstanding, I...have to spend some extra time bragging on the service. We had two marvelous waitresses, who took excellent care of us. Our toddler was constantly entertained by one or the other as we ate, and they were incredibly attentive. I couldn’t recommend this place more!!More
Bad and slow service. Mediocre food. One of their specialty is an oily grilled bread that just tastes like a dirty oven. We left before the end.
Friendly service, good choice of dishes. All well balanced and quality fresh ingredients. Appetizers price is rather high compared to main dishes. Excellent choice for modern cooking.
Delicious food, great service. Highly recommended! We’re definitely visiting again! The cheesecake Salat is one of the highlights.
Amazing food and super friendly managers! I 100% recommend the place to anyone who likes tasty food :)
