This is a great place. Small, casual, inexpensive and very, very good. The owners are super friendly. The ponchas are made fresh to order and were by far the best we tasted in Madeira (and we sampled quite a few across town during our stay!) The burger is outstanding. Everything is done with care and attention and the quality and value is excellent.

Extremely friendly husband and wife owners, visited on a couple of occasions, once for evening drinks plus a lunch.
Cheap prices, Bolo do Caco toasted sandwich was perfectly toasted and on the large side.
Well worth a visit during your trip.

We visited this great little tavern for a poncha and ended up popping in for a drink every night of our holiday.
It is run by a friendly team who made us feel very welcome and even split a milk shake for our children. Nothing is too much trouble.
Definitely a bar that is not to be overlooked.
Best fresh made poncha we tried.

A lively little street bar and can fully understand why. Their Poncha is the best and the guy working there really looked after us. 3 ponchas, a single scoop ice cream and a wine came to €18 so really great. Seating is limited so it's likely you may have to stand. A great place for pre or after dinner drinks. They do snacks but we didn't eat.

Do not leave Madeira without visiting Lido's Tavern . All the reviews are correct. Run by husband and wife team . We arrived when very busy and given a friendly welcome . Whilst we were waiting for a table we were given a couple of chairs to enjoy the Ponchas with a bowl of peanuts . Poncha is quite strong but really good and made from scratch . Later we were found a table and the lady cooked a cheese and bacon burger with a Bolo do caco and another Poncha . One of the best burgers I have ever had . We shared these dishes and it was more than enough. We stayed for more drinks and chatted to the owners and spent time just people watching . A very unique experience and not to be missed .

Popped in to celebrate our negative ‘return to the UK’ Covid tests and wanted to taste an authentic, traditional Poncha! Not only were the drinks fantastic but the couple running the place were top class and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Wish we’d have found this bar at the start of our holiday rather than the end! Although, who knows, we have another day in Funchal so might just squeeze in another Poncha before we leave. Well Done Lido’s Tavern

These lovely people you want to take home after your holiday in Madeira. A small but very atmospheric location where you can have a drink and a snack. It's really cheap! An espresso for €1,- or a delicious iced coffe shake for not even €4,-! These people are happy to explain to you what each drink and snack is. So I was told the history of traditional Poncha by the gentleman who works there when I wanted to try it for the first time. The lady is also a darling of a woman! They are such wonderful people really indescribable! This is where you really have to go!

The best poncha so far. Freshly made everytime. Takes 5-6 minutes but the oranges are fresh pressed. Super friendly guys who are running this place. For sure a “good to know place”. It’s a little street food restaurant. Highly recommend

Nice outdoor spot to watch the world go by. The couple who run it are very friendly and you can tell they care about what they serve. The poncha was amazing and made to order in the traditional way! We tried a few others and this one was the best. Great complimentary bar snacks too. We had the lupin beans which were awesome.
The couple who run it are having trouble getting control of the trip advisor page so opening times are not up to date. They are closed on Sundays having a well deserved break.

Lido's Tavern is a marvellous little bar that specialises in homemade Ponchas, the local drink of Madeira. The bar is run by great, friendly people, who did everything to make us feel welcome. It is obviously a focal point for locals and tourists, and is always busy. There are only a few tables and chairs, so be prepared to stand for a while, which is not easy after your 3rd Poncha !
They also do a mean Bolo do Caco if you're feeling a little hungry.

We were staying nearby and had to find this place based on the fantastic Trip Advisor reviews.
We went every night on our holiday. As other reviewers have said the local Ponchas here are amazing and the couple who run the bar are very passionate about their recipe. They also make a few alternative versions of the traditional Poncha - you must try the Grapefruit or the Passion Fruit varieties.
The bar itself is a tiny kiosk, in fact we walked past it a few times before finding it. They are so friendly and welcoming - even when busy the owners stopped to chat to ask about our day. If you’re in the area you must come here and try the Ponchas. Seems to be a bar where lots of locals come after work. Thank you!

This is our 2nd visit to Madeira, we could not wait to come back to this amazing bar, run by the most beautiful couple, Micky and Madeline❤️
They treat you like family. Nothing is too much bother for them both, so attentive making sure that everything is ok.
The Cocktails are the best ever!! Especially Pina Coladas, Mojitos and the Poncha all freshly made, even picking fresh mint for the mojitos so much attention to detail in everything.
The Burgers are superb, French fries, piping hot, all served beautifully on slate plates.
If you come to Madeira you
Must look this place up.

I highly recommend anyone visiting Funchal to visit Lido’s Tavern! The lovely couple who own it could not be any more welcoming and provide such a warm experience. We arrived on a very late flight and it was one of the only places open. I had messaged through Facebook inquiring if they would still be serving food and the owner said she would make us dinner when we arrived! She was even able to accommodate gluten free for my daughter. We returned later in the week and it was packed for good reason. Food, drinks, and hospitality are amazing. Please support this local business!

This was our favourite place to stop on an evening during our holiday. The owners are super friendly, and the pocha really is the best we had anywhere. Also the garlic bread with chorizo is delicious, they have a variety of other snacks and drinks to try out, it really is the best little bar in the area.

Lovely bar run by lovely people, stopped off here most nights and some afternoons for a drink always busy. The guys always found time for a chat then apologised when they had go and serve a customer. The prices were very reasonable,in my opinion the more you drank the more you saved plus the best Poncha of our holidays.
