Having discovered this gem of a restaurant last year, a return visit this year was an absolute must and we visited twice in the space of a week. The choice and quality of food is excellent as is the service. It would be hard to pick out certain dishes but the tortilla, chicken on skewers and pork skewers were our favourites and if you can manage a dessert the crema catalana is one of the best ever! Being lovers of tapas and having eaten many around the world we would rate this restaurant as being one of the best and excellent value for money too. We look forward to our next visit!!

This bar is right on the main road into Funchal so overlooks all the traffic. The drinks menu is OK and the tapas pleasant but some looked overpriced. Padron peppers were good and the tortilla with sausage was alright for the price, although the octopus was a very small portion. Staff are pleasant and it is spotless.

This place serves a really good selection of authentic and tasty tapas dishes and reasonably priced wines, ideal if you are looking for a light casual meal and drinks.
Tapas y Copas is on 3 levels with both inside and outside seating areas on terraces.
The atmosphere is good, service friendly and prices reasonable, and we enjoyed 3 visits there during our 2-week stay in Funchal.

Best tapas style food in maderia. The lemongrass chicken skewers and the guacamole melt in your mouth. Can also recommend Meat Tacos and very generous portions of Patatas Bravas. Visited twice with my daughter in one week. Trust me - It’s that good!
We found the service from one waiter very attentive on both occasions.
Tonight we had dessert. I went for the lemon curd because lemons are grown on the island. Delicious!! Daughter chose the chocolate churros. You will love this place. Great value too.

We visited on a Friday evening and had a nice table upstairs. The service was friendly and we enjoyed it. We had a bottle of wine and a bola do caco with fried calamari and pork brochetas which were lovely. We actually expected the dishes to be a bit bigger so we then ordered some crispy prawns which were also good. The waiter kindly brought us a small complimentary glass of Madeiran wine while we were waiting. At €46,.50 it was okay I suppose. There was a live trio playing jazz downstairs which was going down well.

We selected this place as it looked busy and a quick check of the reviews confirmed it was ok.
The food, wine, service and value for money exceeded our expectations.
We had 6 dishes between 2 of us plus 2 more for desert and everything was well presented and really tasty. I’d recommend the beef carpaccio as it’s one of my favourites and was excellent!
The waiter was fantastic, friendly and attentive with a good sense of humour making us feel very welcome. We told him what kind of wine we liked and he selected the perfect one, which was of the lower price end. It was spot on.
Well worth a visit if you’re staying in the nearby hotels and don’t fancy dinner in the hotel or heading into Funchal.

Absolutely amazing food, cannot fault anything. From the waiter recommending the house red to making sure we didn’t over order thanks to the waiter and every single dish was delightful. The deserts were to die for! If you are in Funchal then this is an absolute must!

10/10 Tapas!! We spotted this restaurant a few nights ago whilst walking into Funchal and just knew we had to come and eat here.
The restaurant itself is incredibly attractive and welcoming. We sat at the front and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience. Really clean, really efficient service and phenomenal food.
We chose a selection of 6 tapas dishes between us, and couldn’t finish them as the portions were all very generous.
The dishes we would strongly recommend were: garlic shrimp (could eat this every day until I died it was SO tasty), ham croquettes, calamari, chicken tacos, batatas bravas aioli and garlic bread.
Another thing we enjoyed was the service buttons on the table, which ensured really prompt and efficient service from the waiting staff. They were all really polite and helpful. Our wine was also chilled in a freestanding cooler which was a nice touch.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant! A lovely and tasty experience!

Really enjoyed our tapas meals here. We went for 6 tapas plates between the two of us & really enjoyed them. The tapas we had were the normal “smaller” plates expected as a tapas. It does become a bit overwhelming with all the tapas plates arriving in quick succession. It would be be better to “trickle” feed the plates through. The only down side was the “greeter” downstairs who was far from welcoming, misleading in being able to book a table 3 days in advance and, instead of thanking the booking himself, got me to write the day & time we wanted for the booking on a serviette. Overall though we enjoyed it

We have been going to Madeira for the last 15 years and ate in some amazing places. This year we thought we would try this tapas restaurant as we had never been before. We'll what can I say, we were only in Madeira for a week and we ended up eating here for three of the nights. First of all the service was superb. All the waiting on staff were so good. Maddie was our main waiting on member who looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble for her, describing some of the dishes to us and just generally bring such a happy, pleasant young lady. I cannot stress to you just how much we loved this place. The food was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed every dish that we ordered immensely. Thank you so much Maddie and all the staff, for making our holiday so special. I urge anybody who hasn't give this restaurant a go, please do so, you definitely won't regret it.

Whenever we visit Madeira (often) we always eat here. A good selection of tapas, friendly, efficient service, fair prices and when sitting on the stylish terrace, you can watch the world go by as you sip a few copas from their wine list. A very pleasant way to pass an evening.

Ate here with a family of 6 people (4 adults and 2 teenagers) on which three are vegetarians. As lovely as Madeira is let’s be honest, if you want a divers meal as a vegetarian this can be quite a challenge.
Walked past this lovely looking restaurant and decided to eat here. And although not everything we ordered needed to be vegetarian we were very surprised to see that there where lots of vegetarian items to choose from.
Next to that everything was prepared very well and it all tasted great. One of the best guacamole we ever tasted and another highlight was the tortilla but honestly it was all great and delicious.
Also the staff was very friendly and nice and very accommodating (we asked for a surprise virgin cocktail for one of the teenagers and they came up with one of the best looking and tasting cocktail yet).
Would highly recommend!

I appreciate it's still early in the reopening but everywhere else is so much better that this cannot be excused.
OK service initially but poor quality food and very very slow. Out of 6 dishes, we ate the first two - but reluctantly. Padron peppers were soggy and smothered with so much salt we had to wipe it off with our tablecloths and tepid garlic mushrooms - and not many.
Then evemtually came the chicken wings which were actually OK, and we ill-advisedly thought this boded well and ordered three more dishes.
We managed less than a quarter of each dish as it was so bad and when the boss man eventually came to clear the table, he didn't ask why.
Not cheap either considering the plastic tables.
Avoid.

We used to visit this restaurant a few years ago when it first opened. They did lovely food and we went a few times during each holiday. Sadly this time was a complete letdown, I ordered sparkling wine and received a glass of flat wine, which was duly replaced but I’m sure when they poured it they could tell it was flat.
The food was really poor as it appeared that everything had been pre cooked then reheated. The ham croquettes were over done and tasteless and like the kind you buy frozen. The Chicken wings were dry and over cooked. The Spanish Tortillas was also over done and the patatas bravas/a’oli had hardly any sauce on them. The garlic bread - boca do caco was probably the worst we have had this holiday.
On a positive note service was fast and staff were nice but we would not go back.

2nd time in restaurant - service was terrible and food was rushed. Food was nice but there was no attention paid to what was served and when resulting in 9 plates being served within 15 mins of each other. Not ideal with 2 adults and 2 small kids being served. This is the opposite to a previous experience where tapas were served over a period of time. In keeping with how the waiter said the experience would be - as we did ask at the time of ordering if all plates come together or if they are spaced out. The restaurant was busy this time though so either the front of house staff didn’t communicate with the kitchen or they wanted to turn over the table as fast as possible for the next family ( I assume the latter) When I gave the feedback on the service being too rushed this time compared to last I was told that’s just the way it goes sometimes……. A ridiculous statement and speaks volumes to our experience. Be warned - if you have young kids or are a family looking for a relaxed experience this may not be for you … especially if the restaurant is busy at peak season .
