There are some nice elements on the menu, but it can be hit and miss. Indicatively, the riz au lait was sublime; on the other hand, the café gourmand (included in photo) felt like an afterthought, it’s price at €14 was unjustifiable, and it was one of the poorest of its kind that I have ever had in Belgium.
Regarding the main dishes, while some are solid (like the aubergine dish), others were rather weak on their execution. For example, we had a burger that we asked as « well cooked » but was still red inside (not merely pink), while the steak that was asked to be « saignant » was eventually brought out à point. Both tasty but, if they cook things a particular way, they should not ask the clients how they prefer their meat to be cooked.
Furthermore, we were charged the price of the coffee in addition to the cafe gourmand (when the coffee is actually included). This was pointed out directly but the card payment had already gone through: there was no option for a refund of the item that we did not order. We were admittedly offered the choice for an additional drink (which is not really a choice when we are all ready to leave, plus it was 1 offered drink while we were a group of people) or alternatively to remind them next time we are there (though it is unlikely that it would work in practice, since it’s not in writing and it relies on one’s word); neither was acceptable, justifiable or sufficient.
Finally, while the place was pretty empty, it felt like the client follow-up could be a bit more robust. Personnel was very pleasant on a personal level (we had 5 different servers at different points in time and they were all nice) though getting anyone’s attention could take rather too long when practically no one was around to be seen.
Therefore, while this place could have some potential, there are areas for improvement. Having said that, the location is convenient and the outside space is lovely.
Given the facts, I would not return for anything beyond a drink or a coffee in the terrace.

In recent years, I have visited the Sofitel Louise on several occasions (aperitifs on the terrace, dinners, stays, etc.) and I have never been disappointed because it was truly a place, an atmosphere and a quality appreciated by all. However, since MGallery manages the hotel, I went back and simply tried the Maison Louise restaurant. What a desappointment!!! Outdated layout and cutlery but above all, I ate very badly: croquettas as a starter worthy of supermarkets and the top, my main course, a charred octopus, completely black and burnt (see photo). No excuses, normal preparation for the chef! Shame, for an establishment of this range and at these prices! Avoid and flee! I would also like to point out that all the staff are as before, super friendly and pleasant…. It matters but you absolutely have to change cooks!

What a good evening, very nice hotel, we were well placed.
Impeccable services nothing to say , very very kind, the manager of the restaurant even offered us tea and coffee.
Very chic, and very good and “tasteful” we see that the dishes and textures of them have been studied.
Just I have a small claim not bad but I still wish the fries were really home fries, I don’t know if they were frozen? But I thought it was a shame for a very good restaurant and prepared by a chef.

Second try in this place, and it is not regretted.
As strong points, I would highlight the location, the cocktails, the quality of food, and the personnel.
With the benefit of reflection, the initial impressions of my first visit were further reinforced: this place has potential and can truly accommodate a range of circumstances. One can come here for their regular restaurant (which, incidentally, has amazing desserts, especially the “riz au lait mango and passion” and the “comme un snickers”) on most days or, alternatively, for the BBQ offer on Sundays or simply in the context of a coffee or cocktail.
In this occasion, I had the opportunity to enjoy the grill / BBQ menu. At €35 (which includes the main grilled dish with fries, plus a small selection of salads from a buffet), I’m surprised that I have not seen any other reviews of their BBQ menu, for which they offer a meat, fish and vegetarian option. It seems simple but it is actually a compelling offer; while the fish option was a trio of different seafoods, I was eventually tempted by the entrecôte. It superficially appears simple but not simplistic: it is actually something basic that is made perfectly well and ticks all the right boxes. In my case, the meat was cooked as requested, with good caramelisation, and with surprisingly good quality of tender tasty meat. To put things into context, the quality of the meat made me have flashbacks of the good old (now long closed) Aux Pavés de Bruxelles: that meat brought back memories, and that’s the sign of a good restaurant.
On other strong points, I have to highlight the garden, which is like a cocoon away from the busy streets of Louise. One could never tell from outside that this space could be so pleasant. I have so far enjoyed it during good summer weather, which feels like a little city heaven. However, it would not be hard to imagine this as an outside spot to chill even in winter (as long as it doesn’t rain). That wouldn’t take anything away from the interior of the regular restaurant, but if one has the opportunity to sit outside then I would personally recommend.
Finally, any potentially minor service weakness can easily be over-countered by the pleasantness of the personnel in place. The staff is solid, and any improvement would require only minor adjustments and a bit more experience. Moreover, big hats off to the lady that was doing the cocktails when I visited: consistently executed cocktails (do not avoid having one or two by the way, worth it) and at the same time guiding, advising and supporting other personnel.
So, all in all and somewhat unexpectedly to me, the place is recommended for any context or occasion, be it in their roof garden or inside and be it with their regular or BBQ menu or simply to chill and enjoy the place, with prices totally justified for the location and the quality. If I had to characterise them, I would label them as one of the secret gems of central Bruxelles, which I am happy to have had the pleasure to discover. An address to return.

During our stay at this fantastic hotel, my wife and I dined at the restaurant on Thursday. The team was incredibly helpful, especially considering my wife's numerous allergies, and we were pleased to find that all allergens were clearly indicated on the menu. We opted for their tapas menu and tried the octopus, which was absolutely delicious. The dishes had great flavor, generous portions, and dining in the garden while listening to the orchestra playing created a wonderful ambiance. We were delighted to learn that they have live music every Thursday, providing a pleasant background while still allowing for conversation. It was truly a memorable dining experience.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant whilst staying at the hotel. The service and food was excellent! The restaurant staff were very good with great service. We have to give a shout out to Mickaela who was very friendly and went above and beyond. Awesome atmosphere. I would highly recommend for a couple!

Passing by the Le Louise Hotel in Avenue de la Toison d’Or in the afternoon, I decided to check if their first-floor restaurant was still open. It was raining, and I had some reading to do anyway. Understandably, the large dining room was almost empty after lunchtime. By way of late light lunch, I ordered a vitello tonnato - one of my favourite Italian dishes – which was served with a small roll. Contrary to the traditional recipe, the thinly sliced veal was not covered in a liquid tuna, capers, and anchovy sauce. Instead, the ‘sauce’ had the consistency of dry hummus and was piped into shapes, topped with capers and sun-dried tomatoes. Unusual, yet tasty enough.
What surprised me most, though, was the hilarious contrast between the quiet and posh dining room and the noisy and boisterous large open kitchen. I couldn’t overhear the three people at the table next to mine, but I didn’t miss a word of the conversations in the kitchen, which was much further away. I heard a man with a heavy Dutch accent (the chef?) explaining things in French and English to kitchen staff, against the background of clanging pots and pans and a hoover-type very loud kitchen appliance. Not exactly the classy experience I was expecting in an expensive place like Maison Louise. More like having a free preview of the first episode of a new TV series entitled “The Kitchen”.

Passing through the neighborhood small stop in this Pension bar to have an aperitif, secure reception of the entrance, possibility to have a drink inside or on the terrace, welcome, on the other hand the table with stains sorry it does not pass, yet we were 6 inside and 4 outside....., several people at the service passing and passing by, a person widely tattooed "the person in charge", we felt like in a tattoo parlour..........but not in a Pension of this class, the cocktails are good and well made for an abysmal Award, in short only the Award gives us the Impression of being Boulevard de Waterloo.

Our dinner at maison Louise -kitchen was very disappointing.
We planned a dinner at this restaurant during our visit to Brussels because we were staying at the hotel. The hotel itself is okay and is recommended.
However, you are better off eating somewhere else.
Nice interior, but the food leaves a lot to be desired.
