My bad experience mirrors the other reviewers that this bakery is to be avoided. - expensive (even by Amsterdam standards) - poor hygiene (server used bare hands to touch the croissant) - bad service attitude There are other bakeries nearby, which are more pleasant. (even...More
This bakery is located in a chic area. The banana cake is very good, it's quite expensive for such a small slice, though. It is absolutely true what the other reviewers wrote about the staff. They should not have such attitute towards the customers.

I've tried. I've really tried. I've tried to give Bakker Bertham many chances to see if their service would improve. Every time I go in I'm highly disappointed to the point where I'm now offended by their nasty service and bad attitude. It doesn't matter...More
Bad service, mediocre food. Staff is too lazy to make a sandwich 10 minutes before closing time. There much better places to go to, Avoid this place.
We visited the Jordaan location -- I think it's on Tweede Tuindwarsstraat -- four mornings in a row last month. Wonderful croissants, apple turnovers, cappuccinos, freshly squeezed orange juice, and of course, many varieties of bread. We loved it!
Located at a rather trendy and posh neighborhood in Amsterdam, this 'baker's shop' also serves sandwiches, pastries and drinks for lunch. Although the shop looks neat on the outside, there are at least three reasons why I would recommend others to avoid this place. Firstly,...More
