Good fresh Italian food. Good service. Ambiance is nice and quiet, even when full. House wine was pretty ordinary though.

Picked this one up off Tripadvisor & was not disappointed. Arrived to find all outside tables taken but we were happy to take an inside one where it was cooler & very well appointed. Waitress spoke English & was very helpful. The Gorgonzola flan starter...More

My girlfriend picked the restaurant, I was initially sceptical because if her taste in men was anything to go by this place would be expensive, slow and incredibly disappointing. Anyway I succumbed and went with her choice (as I do often do) and what a...More

Came in here for some lunch whilst exploring the beautiful town of San Gimignano. The wild boar in red wine was delicious however a little pricey at €19 considering it only came with peas (no potatoes). All in all, a very good meal.

We went to this restaurant twice - once in June and last week when we brought a small tour group back. Both times the waiter only served the wine to the ones drinking bottled wine which was a red. I don't drink red and was...More

Description
The Renaissance banquets at the Medici court with game and vegetables of the lands of Tuscany come back to life in The Manger restaurant menu in the center of San Gimignano. In Via Mainardi in the stables of an ancient building, Susi and Paul Nannelli have recreated the atmosphere of other times, offering a cuisine that is inspired precisely by the ancient recipes reworked in a modern way: fillet of venison with vin santo and mushrooms, Wild Boar Remigio de 'Nannini and wild boar in sweet and sour sauce are just some of the unusual dishes to try for sure. The restaurant is run by Mrs. Susi who chooses only local products for the preparation of the dishes presented to guests with care even in appearance. Do not miss the Tuscan specialties such as Ribollita or pappardelle with wild boar, much loved by foreign tourists who visit the locale.Il restaurant is located in the historical center a few steps from Piazza Sant'Agostino in a living room with stone walls and brick arches ancients. The atmosphere is rustic and elegant and is eaten with a background in classical music. In summer there stands outdoors to enjoy in addition to the kitchen even the atmosphere of the medieval village. The management is friendly: the spouses Nannelli together with their daughters Annalisa and Giulia will welcome you with kindness and cordiality.
