Characteristic, original tavern, pleasant experience.
4 of us went to this tavern, in the center of Riomaggiore, after making a reservation with the owner, Alessandro.
The place is a wedding favor!
Housed within the ancient walls of the village, it is located on a characteristic, historic staircase, very close to the train station.
Some of the tables are inside, while outside they are located in a ravine and on the terraces along the staircase.
Fun!
With the affectionate welcome it is pleasant to get advice on the dishes of the day, with well-presented fresh fish.
The offer is mixed, between first and second starters, all depending on the catch of the day.
We ate first and second starters, as in the attached photos, all of excellent quality.
Fabulous stuffed muscles and spaghetti with lobster, the chef's lemon octopus salad is incredible.
Even the homemade desserts are delicious.
The choice of wines is adequate, we took a Vermentino.
The quality/price ratio is good, low cost perhaps slightly below the average of what you spend in Riomaggiore.
We had a good time, ate well, the cost was right, I would go back.
Advised!

My daughter and I had dinner at this beautiful restaurant. It was an 'experience nothing short of unique both for what we ate and for the' reception of the staff. The kind owner Elisa was able to advise us in the best way their specialties that we savored with enthusiasm. Really everything great. We will definitely be back.

The most amazing Italian food…
This restaurant is such a great find. Tucked away down a side street, they offer delicious authentic Italian food with great service. We spent three hours enjoying several course - service is slow and unhurried.
Would highly recommend - make sure to reserve a table as it’s very popular.

Arriving at 8:15, we sat down and ordered an appetizer and two first courses; the starter arrived after half an hour (despite the fact that they were just a few pieces of fried fish) but for the first courses we had to wait another 45 minutes (they didn't even arrive together). Unfortunately we would have also ordered second courses, because the dishes were good, but the wait was too long. As for the rest, the place is small but not unpleasant, an informal if a little chaotic environment. Finally, the thing that perhaps left us most saddened after all, was the owner who at the time of payment asked us to withdraw (outside the premises at a machine) because the POS was not working.

Sadly we were very disappointed as we were hoping for so much more following the reviews.
We arrived promptly for a 19.00 dinner and it took about 10 minutes to receive the menus. And about 10 minutes later we were asked for our drinks order. We were hoping this had not set a trend.
We eventually ordered our food and shared a trofei al pesto which was ok and we the had to wait about 30 minutes for our main course. We were not alone as there were other diners who were also experiencing slow service.
We ordered grilled filet of sea bass and grigliata di pesci. The sea bass was not sea bass - we have no idea it was but it was certainly not moist, firm and flakey. What was served was slimy, tasteless and grey (not the same texture or colour of sea bass). We returned the fish which the waitress accepted without any fuss. We were offered a replacement but we did not want to wait another 30 minutes.
The grigliata was disappointing as the langoustines were not cooked (they were returned). We have far better grigliata on our Italian travels.
The restaurant is very busy and popular and we were surprised by the number of customers who were turned away as it was full.
The restaurant does not have a sea view as it is tucked away up a little path away from the main thoroughfare.
What a shame……

Sept 2023 • solo
Beware: do not try to go here if you are a solo diner!! I am not one to leave reviews, good or bad, but I had a very terrible experience here and wanted to share so others don’t experience the same thing. When exploring my dinner options on the internet, I saw a review for this place that warned about trying to eat here as a solo traveler since she was turned away despite many available tables. Today at 7pm, I tried my luck and thought maybe that was just her own experience or was a weird night. The restaurant was nearly empty- only about 3 tables of patrons. There were tons of empty set tables. I asked an older gentleman at the door for a table for 1. He coldly kind of mumbled to himself, backed away, spoke to some of the wait staff—making what I thought was a “just a minute while we figure this out” gesture—I assumed at first that he was just discussing which table to give me. As I have had trouble find a restaurant in the area both nights of my trip, I waited anxiously for a few minutes. I’m new to solo travel and I’m still finding that it takes courage each and every time I try to dine in a sit-down restaurant by myself, so requesting a table for 1 is already a hurdle for me. Well, after about 5 minutes, still an empty restaurant and no one else trying to come in, I look inside to see if he’s going to come back, and I see that same man who I can assume is the manager or owner of sorts, polishing glasses….what?! The server he be had been speaking to made eye contact with me and said nothing to me. The man polishing glasses also made eye contact with me. It was completely clear in that moment that they were not going to come speak to me to show me to a table. I was pretty disgusted and walked away. This place should be ashamed of themselves if this is how they treat solo diners. It feels awful and also just seems like bad business. I would have spent a good amount of money trying different dishes and also now here I am leaving this review, hoping to discourage other solo diners from experiencing this same thing. Shame on them.

Small place but attention to detail. Nice host and ready in requests. Top staff! Special mention for Chef Michele who made us taste fresh seafood specialties prepared in an excellent way! Very good octopus on purple potato cream and stuffed muscles. Spaghetti with seafood abundant and tasty! Everything really top! Impossible to pass by Riomaggiore and not go to eat in this Osteria!

Simply perfect! Nice and welcoming location, friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent quality of dishes! We chose testaroli with seafood as the first course, a perfect combination of the traditional Lunigiana testaroli and the delicacy of the freshest fish. As a second course, my husband chose the sliced tuna with sweet and sour onions: the quality of the raw material was excellent, perfect cooking and flavor! I, however, wanted to try the octopus on purple potato cream: AMAZING!!!!! The choice of wines is also wide and of excellent quality.
We will certainly return to this delightful little corner of paradise where you can breathe an air of refined simplicity and dedicated attention to the customer.

I highly recommend this small restaurant (no more than 15 seats in the room) located in a very small alley away from the main street. The welcome is extremely friendly even if they speak little or no English or French. The dishes offered are original and frankly we enjoyed ourselves; variation of anchovies, squid ink ravioli, lobster chicce, seafood testaroli and whipped cream for dessert made directly with strawberries. Osteria top for me.

A small but very welcoming place the super owners.
Elisa and Alessandro make you feel immediately at home and their kindness and Lots of Stuff, I was with Olivia a small puppy who was welcomed and welcomed with Love.
Michele the cook brings out excellent courses that make you lick your lips, I tried more things and all were delicious and well cooked, including the always beautiful and well-kept plating.
In 2 days in Riomaggiore I was there 2 days and what can I say I can not wait to return in summer so I can taste their excellent dishes outside because have lunch or dinner in the old alleys and a nice experience.
My favorite dish anchovies in 3 varieties ‘Unique and inimitable Yummy!!!

I went to this restaurant after making a reservation to secure two seats for my weekend in the Cinque Terre. The restaurant is very characteristic, a little hidden from the chaos of the main street, with 4/5 tables outside and the same number inside, truly exclusive!
The very kind and affable staff is the icing on the cake of a perfect lunch!
Everything is top quality and presented in an original and refined way.
As I told the chef (M.) he cooked me the best tuna steak I have eaten in 32 years!
Super recommended!

Excellent food!
I highly recommend trying the stuffed anchovies and stuffed muscles, they are excellent!
The restaurant is slightly outside the center of Riomaggiore, a location that allows you to have lunch or dinner in peace!
Alessandro, the owner, and Michele, the chef, are two competent and super friendly people who make the experience even more pleasant!

Do not expect to have that fancy dinner like in other places in the neighborhood but it was the best dinner we could ask. Service is very slow but the vibe was to be at home and the food was simply incredible.

We visited La Torpedine on our last evening and it was the best meal we had during our visit. The restaurant is small, and takes bookings for 7pm and 9pm to ensure 'slow' food and maximum enjoyment. This restaurant uses the freshest local ingredients, and puts them together with originality and care. The menu is quite small, but that didn't matter! Alice works hard front of house, and explains the menus and describes the wine with love and pride. To ensure you get to visit make sure to book - you'll be pleased you did!
