It was fabulous just to be in Rome for my 35th, yet it was even more amazing to dine at this local place! The ambiance upon arrival was so inviting, it was a good start to a wonderful evening. I had been studying Italian for...More
We were recommended this place by my barber who visited Rome recently. He told me to pop on over if you can during an off-peak time (we showed up around 2:30pm).The place was still bustling but the ambiance and energy was quintessential big city Rome....More

We found Il Sorpasso to be a lively and friendly local place. We had no reservations but the...More
Good bistrot with typical Italian appetizer and dishes. Everything well prepared and tasty. Nice ambiance and very kind service. A little bit too noisy. Very good choice of wines and beer. Recommended for quick lunches or dinner or aperitifs before and after a cinema or...More
On a recent trip to Rome, our Bed and Breakfast host, Simonetta, recommended Il Sorpasso for dinner. Located in the lively, residential Prati neighborhood, the restaurant is a short walk from the Ottaviano metro stop. Lively and urbane, the restaurant served traditional Italian fare with...More

Yes, it appears on their website that they will accept reservations but not through email so you have to call. When i visited, many of the staff spoke English. I went for lunch and did not have a reservation and waited about 15 minutes for a table for 2. But it was very busy.
Here is the phone number as listed on the website:
In Italian, do you speak English: Parli inglese? If this does not work I would suggest visiting in person to make a reservation or having your concierge call them for you. It is worth the wait. The food and service were great and the prices are so reasonable. Have fun!
