Amazing food, great location and service! Prices not exaggerated taking into consideration quality and quantity. I fully recommend this place :)

We loved our meal here. There seem to be some very mediocre reviews and I am not sure why. We had a truly delicious meal here. Service was good. We were helped in choosing a bottle of wine with no "up-sell". When torn between to...More

We came early and where little abashed that there were no customers. But in half an hour the restaurant was full with people and cheerful atmosphere of family dinner. Food is really good here and portions are big enough to enjoy it. Seafood in our...More

It is rare to find a restaurant that only gets better with time, and Osteria La Gensola surprises me each time I find myself in Rome. Amazing place, amazing food that only gets better with each visit. It is almost impossible to find a table...More

The chef at La Gensola is a genius when it comes to fish. Today we had a marvelous seared tuna dish with red onion, raisins, and chicory paired with a brilliant tart sauce: the tuna was transformed and almost had pork-like qualities cooked this way,...More

We were wandering and hadn't booked anywhere. We stumbled on a website that recommended La Gensola and were delighted to be able to make a booking. Quite liked the slightly quirky interior. And had good service (despite other comments). I really enjoyed my carbonara made...More

We were recommended elsewhere but stumbled here. Delicious, fresh beautiful seafood and really nice outlook into the square. No outside tables did not matter. Will rush back next time.

We were recommended this restaurant when we took a cooking class in Rome. We went last night and were very, very disappointed. The service was terrible -- staff was rude and brusque. They only have one very cheap wine by the glass which is shocking...More

Very, VERY small portions and nothing special at all. We complained and the manager said that it is the average. Also, lipstick stain in a wine glass - unacceptable. Manager said that she never read the reviews so she doesn’t care. Don’t go.

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded
postcard, a little worn around the edges but still
charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering
streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and
overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible
mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of
entertainment - a rotating set of street performers
entertains almost every night, and unforgettable

Warm atmosphere in the heart of Trastevere with fantastic, well-presented food. Great place for authentic Italian dishes as it is mainly frequented by locals.
