This place gets very busy but there is an excellent selection of wine and food. The specialty are the egg dishes which are simple but delicious. Not had a bad plate of food here over the years but always feel a bit hemmed in.

Known to locals as "Taberna Lucio," this place is an institution, though not on the level of Casa Lucio, its older brother on the other side of the street. Came on the recommendation of an old friend, got seated in the special table in the back surrounded by racks of wine, and ate some of the best raciones we had... More

Good atmosphere, packed restaurant, though little space and a little shortage in ventilation. Tasty Croquet and green salad.

On entering this long thin taberna the first thing that catches the eye are immense bowls of eggs on the counter - for this is the house speciality - eggs in various guises all of which are pretty damn good if our visit was anything to go-by. However the menu is more extensive than eggs and there are other top... More

Our diner was very lively and with very Spanish tipical dishes and drinks. It was overcrowded which is always a good sign.

My girlfriend and I were recommended this place by a friend and we were expecting reasonably priced, hearty Spanish cuisine. We ordered three dishes, the eggs with spicy pork sausage, the lamb Sweetbreads, and the cod with broccoli. The first dish which I imagine is a house specialty given the name of the restaurant was tasty though the eggs were... More

Very nice tiny restaurant apart of noisy street of Madrid. The visitors mostly spanish people. The interior, atmosphere and visitors all together makes you feel like you are part of small spanish community. The dishes are interesting, usual food served and called in unusual way. Everything is very delicious.

Busy and informal, we had a quick "aperitivo" with small beers, fries and fried eggs with sausage. Fantastic. We'll be back! :)

Typically standing room only around lunch. Stood at the bar and ordered huevas rotas with the spicy sausages - it was amazing!!! Friendly staff, super busy on weekends but food is worth it! You still get seated within a few minutes. Will be back on the next trip...

We visited this on the recommendation of a friend, but after having already had lunch! So we only stayed for one drink. We were given a delightful tapa of a 'rice pudding cake' which was very very good. We must go back and try more!

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
