Not just a must in Malaga, it's a must every night in Malaga! It's been there forever and hopefully will be forever more. Big selection of sherry / Malagueta wine from barrels to suit everyone's taste and a selection of snacks. Great atmosphere when it's...More

Simple, functional with great atmosphere! White coated gentlemen serving different type of sherry - simple space, some tapas. Nice way to get acquainted with local sherry, vermouth, moscatel. Worth visiting!

Very old & very authentic. Clearly not changed for many years. A wide variety of Malaga wines, which are similar but not the same as sherries. The service was traditional and although I didn’t try the tapas they looked good. The prices for the wines...More

We were staying in Malaga for a couple of nights and were looking for a place to have a drink. Most of the other places we saw at night were cafes that served pastries and fancy coffee and chocolate drinks. Went in one place and...More

The Antigua Casa de Guardia was founded in 1840 and is the oldest wine bar in Malaga. 'Antigua' is it indeed. The wine is tapped from large wooden barrels at the back side of the bar (at least that is what they want visitors to...More

Here you can taste a great selection of local malaga wines standing by the antique counter, looking how the staff is pouring your glass from huge barrels. Your bill is summerized straight on the counter with a white chalk. The place is authentic, full of...More

I popped in to sample a couple of wines. There were plenty of locals which is always a good sign. Staff were helpful and friendly and they write your tab on the bar with chalk. Definitely worth at least a quick visit.

great stop on a bar crawl. traditional, simple, cheap and cheerful, love the veteran bar staff - their patience is often tried but they roll with the punches, sherries, vermouths drawn from the barrel. If you like sticky floor bars and old taberna atmosphere you...More

I think it would be open on the 24th December, but you should check the website, if they have one. Well worth a visit and a few glasses of their wines and sherries. Extremely reasonable prices.
