Arrogant, rude staff. Avoid!! Who wants to be treated with arrogance when looking for a nice place to enjoy a meal. I would not recommend unless you want terrible service

Had a walk-in dinner. The place looks a bit shabby, but the food was delicious with big portions. Recommend the ox tail.
Having waited for the restaurant to open... we had a fabulous and very filling lunch. A goats' cheese salad ( potatoes, avocados and goats cheese) and eels, eggs and ham to start. Followed by Tuna- Mensula style and Iberica pork. Good local wine to accompany...the meal.More
On menu 35-40 different tapas. We ate 6-7 of them. Enough for 2 persons. Very good. Top of the top were the small red mullets, 10+. The chocolate cake for dessert was also 10+. Good service.
We loved this restaurant, the food (tapas selection) was really nice, the staff were extremely polite and attentive and the prices were reasonable too. Would highly recommend
It was our last night in Malaga and had to be up very early the next day to catch our flight. We were staying nearby at the Gran Hotel Miramar and decided to dine at La Mensula because it was open all day and close...to the hotel. As most restaurants in Spain do not get busy until well after 8pm, the restaurant was not fully staffed when we arrived at 7pm. Nonetheless, the proprietor made us feel very welcomed and accommodated us with an amazing dinner. Our only regret was that we did not eat there earlier during our stay. The food was exceptional and the service attentive. We will most certainly return to La Mensula on our next visit to Malaga.More
Opening at 8pm it was quiet, only one other table. The 4 Tapas for 2 people was perfect. The Tenderloine port with raisin and pine nuts was very good.
Having checked reviews we decided to give this restaurant a try and we were not disappointed. It had been a long day travelling so we needed to eat rather earlier than we would usually in Spain and the restaurant was fairly empty at 8.30pm. We...all chose different fish dishes and they were all fantastic. Stupidly wearing white and ordering a dish involving a tomato sauce, i was very relieved when the waiter offered a large napkin to avoid any spillage. We will definitely go back there.More
Our first visit to Malaga and to this amazing restaurant. The food was just wonderful and super tasty. But we been impressed a lot about the hospitality that we received from Eduardo, amazing waiter and amazing person, really polite friendly and professional, he make our...dinner special.More
Eduardo extended a warm welcome. This feels like a local family and friends place. The service was more than excellent it was friendly and a real connection was made between the waiter, the food and the customer. We had dinner in several of the “top...restaurants” in Malaga.. all more expensive none with better service or food.More
Having read mostly good reviews although a few very bad ones, tried this restaurant. It is elegantly decorated and smart. Waitress spoke decent English and was helpful. My first course (fish soup) was OK. Wife's tomato and cucumber was covered in blue cheese bits (not...mentioned on menu); she hates blue cheese and picked these off. Her main course was turbot (a favourite of hers) - looked nothing like it usually does, had very little fish on it, lots of skin and bones. A complaint generated only "well that table over there liked it". My main was fried dogfish, very boney with heavy batter. No attempt was made to offset our obvious unhappiness, no offer of a discount on the bill. Firmly not recommended.More
Exceptional meal for a Tuesday lunch time. Walk through a long bar past the fresh fish counter and either a table in the bar area or the back room. Service was exceptional with wine glasses refilled without asking. Started with clams in white wine sauce...and bread, giant prawns in salt, recommended by waiter and a bit of theatre on the serving, finished with monkfish in salsa verde and wine which was delicious. Nice bottle of rose and almost forgot the free pate and flat bread starter. £70 including a good tip. Stunning.More
The main reason for choosing this restaurant was that it had suckling pig on the menu. A favourite of mine. Not routinely available outside of Madrid so jumped at the opportunity. We, my wife and I, shared a starter, anchovies on tomato toast which was...very nice. My wife chose "baby" lamb chops for main presented as 5 chops arranged on top of a pile of fried potato sticks - like you can buy in a packet. No vegetables, or garnish of any sort, just that, for 22euro, one of the most expensive items on the menu. My roasted suckling pig was quite substantial, a hind quarter, and served on its own on a plate, no vegetables or garnish, just a separate plate with shredded lettuce and onion dressed with a vinaigrette of some sort - cost 21euro. The pig was very good though. My wife ordered mango and vanilla ice cream for desert and got something strangely different - mango exterior with a green jelly-like interior. I think we had trouble with the waiters because they had no English and our Spanish was very limited, no doubt contributing . However, overall we felt this was a disappointingly expensive experience and could not recommend it.More
We called in quite late one evening but Eduard and his staff were so welcoming and friendly, wish we had time to return for a meal, food looked and smelled fabulous...... Fantastic decor.... Very famous bull in residence, can't remember it's name but awesome..... Will...definitely return in our next trip to Malaga 😁More
We were so looking forward to eating at La Mensular, every time we walked past it looked busy. The menu is extensive and pricey, the staff speak little English, we were set for an authentic, local food extravaganza. The Iberian ham was very good, 22...euros a plate to start. Then it went south, the suckling pig did not taste right (we ate very little fearing a volcanic stomach situation the following day) our main courses all came with chips (where was the veg?) and finally all completely drenched sorry submerged in oil. We couldn’t believe how much oil, it really was so disappointing. What a waste of 100 euros, they serve you a roll as soon as you sit down then charge you for it which is a bit cheeky. Go with someone who has a command of Spanish or better still don’t go and leave alone if you’re staying in the area for a few days. #backtothedrawingboard! Totally underwhelmed.More
