My husband treated me to a birthday dinner at Jan's on 3.12.21. From entering the restaurant right up to the last course served we experienced awesome care and hospitality from Luigi and his colleagues. The food was a dining experience that one can only dream...of. Being a fellow South African it was amazing meeting Jan in person. What a delightful, down to earth human being he is. Wishing your business all the best. Thank you from the bottom of our heartsMore

This was by far the best Michelin-star restaurant we have ever visited. The food, the staff, the wine, the restaurant, the taste, where do I stop. But by far the best was a treat across the road. Not to give too much away, *Kaas en...Konfyt Kamer*. A definite experience not to be missed when you visit Nice.More

Our experience at Jan could not have been better! We loved the flavors and the service was wonderful. The cheese room was out of this world (even for the one of us who didn't like cheese). We will definitely come back if we are in...Nice.More

I must agree with other reviews that restaurant JAN deserves at least two Michelin stars to say the least. If you're in Nice, this is a must-do and you won't regret splurging here. I've dined at a lot of Michelin restaurants around the world and...I will say that our experience at JAN is an absolute perfect 10. From the Amuse-bouche to the last course dessert, every dish was prepared with the utmost care and quality. We had the Cristal menu since we wanted to have an earlier dinner but if I could do it again, I would definitely go all out for the Diamant menu. Our dinner at JAN was undeniably the highlight of our honeymoon trip in South of France. Thank you JAN, for giving us the meal of a lifetime!More

Our experience at Jan could not have been better. We were received just as we walked in the front door with an incredible level of care and attention—-and that care and attention carried over throughout the evening. The food was beautiful and delicious—the service, too,...was phenomenal, and the ambiance and atmosphere could not have been any sweeter. The dining room is small, and intimate and the staff seems to outnumber the patrons. Be sure to nod yes emphatically to the cheese course following the meal. We were escorted across the street following our main course to another building, named after the Chef’s mother (maybe grandmother), Maria. The abundance of cheese and accoutrements was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Truly special experience. A thousand thanks to the wonderful staff for making our anniversary so very memorable.More

As an American with one of my roots being South Africa, I had not put going to JAN in Nice in my travel agenda as I was not thrilled by the idea of dining at an S. African influenced restaurant in Southern France. However, when...I started to doubt my chances of getting off the wait list for Alain Ducasse-Monaco, I called JAN for a last minute reservation. I did receive a call from Alain Ducasse just 40 minutes after I had booked for JAN but I’m glad I did not trouble myself to going back to Monaco for the evening. Food: Presentation and Flavor was good and worth the 1 Michelin star. Texture and crunch were both there. However, I hoped for a stronger South African influence in all of the dishes. It was on the safer side, perhaps? If you are an Afrikaaner or spent few years growing up in SA like me, you may be nostalgic for more of the SA touches. The pie that came with the beef dish was delicious, filling and reminded me of the days my mom packed the Woolworth’s pies for my school lunch. Cheese room was divine but the only linked to SA was the Pinotage. Dried mango, biltong, guava rolls on the cheese table would have also been great accompaniments to the 20 selections of cheese. Overall, I was surprisingly full after the 4 tasting dishes and the cheese room. Service: I have gone to a plethora of Michelin restaurants (EMP, Brooklyn Fare, Bernardin, Gaggan to name a few) and I must say the service from waiters (different story for the waitresses…) and maître d’ was on par with some of these big names. The dishes came out timely, and my glass of sparkling water was refilled as soon as it was empty. The waiters were knowledgeable of the ingredients and were welcoming. I appreciated that they were not pretentious as some restaurants lose their humility after the Michelin recognition. It was a pleasure talking to Luigi at the end of the meal. It was clear that he cared not only about the guests’ dining experiences but also about the guests themselves. Restaurant he recommended for my next day’s lunch was a great choice. I had a wonderful evening at JAN and I look forward to dining here again.More

A superbly delicious meal, well worth the visit. But there is so much more to JAN; friendly, well informed staff, immaculate attention to detail, a well considered menu and a glorious wine list. Lovely experience all round.

As South Africans, we wanted to go to Jan but since we were on holiday, we had or daughter with us. I contacted Jan to explain and I ended mentioning it in our booking. Our evening at Jan was unforgettable, our daughter had a smaller...menu and also got 5-star treatment from everyone. The food was amazing with some tastes from SA, staff were attentive and the cheese room was out of the world. Thank you very much for a lovely evening, we will definitely be back.More
