We had a lovely lunch at La Casiniere, well prepared with fresh ingredients. Prices are fair for the quality, staff were friendly and keen to serve. Highly recommended.

The chocolate mousse type cake is absolutely as good as mine. But the chocolate is even finer and better quality. Melts in your mouth! With that said, we came here for lunch after the museum in Caen. I ordered the stewed lamb which was outstanding....So tender and mild, served with what I think was mashed cauliflower and beautifully cooked root vegetables. My husband ordered the guinea fowl which was just as good but not as tender. Then we saw the couple behind us get the chocolate dessert. I know a good looking chocolate dessert when I see it coming by me! Just a mild cocoa flavor with the consistency like a flourless cake or a thick mousse. Outstanding lunch and eye-closing good dessert! This is a must visit in Caen!More

Our B&B hostess made the reservation for this lovely, small family run restaurant. After a 2 minute walk. we were greeted at the door and shown a cozy table for 2. The staff speaks both French and English flawlessly, the host is actually English. The...food is excellent, flavourful and perfectly cooked. My husband had beef tenderloin, the evening special and I had lamb. The host recommended a great wine to compliment our meals. They even brought out dessert with candles for my husband's birthday. We would definitely recommend seeking our this little gem of a restaurant while visiting Caen.More

We showed up at this lovely gem of a place at the last minute on a Saturday evening with no reservation. We happily took a little table on the streetside seating but the interior was warm, inviting, with lovely brick and soft lighting. Despite having...no reservation, and I think they had had a little kitchen issue, we had the most wonderful meal. Delicious sauces, perfectly cooked vegetables, incredible desserts. The host speaks both English and French.More

We ate twice at this restaurant in Caen-two nights in a row! It was, by far, the best restaurant we found in Caen. Food and service were without fault and it was good value for money too. There was a good selection of food on...the menu: something for each of us (1 meat eater, 1 fish eater and 1 veggie!)- all delicious. The English owner even allowed me to muddle through our conversations in French and spoke back to me in French- although of course he explained anything we didn’t know on the menu. We would definitely go out of our way to eat here again.More

Very attractive room. Excellent service from waiter who tolerated our basic French very well; we guessed he was English when we heard him speaking to another table, and we had a lovely conversation about his history. Starter of oeuf cocotte was great, and main of...sweetbreads was delectable.More
