can't fault this restaurant at all, excellent food and service. The restaurant itself looks very elegant which adds to the meal.

We visited Del Villaggio recently, on a Friday evening. We did not chose the best seat next to the door, but Andrew was wonderful coming to close it whenever the delivery drivers left it open. We ordered mains and desserts on this occasion. Despite 4...other tables arriving at the same time as us, all our mains were wonderful. We asked for one dish without white wine and the sauce was still great. I ordered chicken in the creamy mushroom sauce with mash potato and it was tender and juicy. We also ordered the garlic and chilli chicken and prawn pasta, with a pizza. Each dish was well prepared and really tasty. Although we have eaten here plenty of times I notice the portion sizes are bigger now than they were, but the quality is still there. Desserts were as good as ever, if not a little better. Cocktails were also great. All in all we were very happy with the exceptional service provided by Andrew, great conversation too. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and covid measures are in place. One of our favourite Italian restaurants in Birmingham so we will be back.More

On 18 October 2020, at 8pm, my family and I dined at this restaurant. We were dining here to celebrate my 30th birthday. We decided to eat at Del Villagio because we had previously eaten here a number of times and the food was very...well prepared and tasty. I was expected good homely Italian cooking. However, we would soon regret our decision. When we arrived, there was one large group in the corner who had finished their meal. There was one server in the restaurant and we could see two chefs in the kitchen. The other table left circa ten minutes after we arrived. Firstly, it was surprising that despite making a booking the evening before, and confirming our reservation on the day, our table was not ready upon our arrival. Despite this, we were seated relatively quickly. Our waitress was pleasant and quickly took our orders. For starters, we ordered the garlic pizza bread and the Italian baked breads. The breads were very tasty and so, we were greatly looking forward to our main meal. However, unfortunately, our mains were AWFUL. My father ordered the lamb shank which was tough but was the best” dish out of the “meat” mains we ordered. My mother ordered the chicken breast stuffed with mince. My mother found the chicken very very dry and was unable to finish her meal. I tried her dish and I was appalled. I’m an amateur home cook but even I could see, by sight, that her chicken was overcooked to the point that it was inedible. The mince inside had no flavour and the sauce it was served with was so sweet, it would have been better served as an accompaniment to a dessert. I also ordered a chicken dish which was dry, but not to the extent of my mother’s. However my chicken breast was anaemic looking, as if it had been broiled. Moreover, there was no taste to the sauce. It was as if I was eating cardboard. My sister ordered a variety of mains but again these were disappointing. The duck spring rolls were dry. The texture of the duck filling had a beef jerky like texture and the peanut sauce did not taste of peanuts. This was definitely on the level of an “ICELAND” reheatable party snack. My sister’s risotto balls were stodgy and bland. I would not be surprised if my sister’s starters had been cooked, frozen and then re-heated. The best dish served to my table had was my brother’s pizza which looked edible. However, the chefs made a mistake with his order and so we all had to start eating before the correct pizza was delivered to him. Luckily pizzas cook quickly. This again shows the chefs lack of attention to detail. During our time at the restaurant, we saw at least 7 Deliveroo drivers coming to collect items for delivery. It was clear the chefs were focussing on the deliveries rather than the customers who were in the restaurant. It is unfortunate that I feel compelled to write this negative review. Our experience was wholy unsatisfactory. We have previously eaten at Del Villagio on a number of occasions and the food has been excellent. If anything, as the restaurant was so empty, the food should have been the same quality if not better than what we had previously experienced. However I cannot express how awful our main meals were. We passed feedback onto the server but I have no idea if this feedback was taken on board. The chef’s willingness to serve food which was so poorly put together shows how little they value their customers. If you used to visit this restaurant prior to COVID, I would give it a wide berth. Otherwise you would leave disappointed. This was a 30th birthday meal that I will never forget. For all the wrong reasons.More

After ordering two pizzas through Uber Eats. The delivery driver then realised he had collected the wrong order, instead of returning to collect the order the Uber Eats driver blamed myself and then the restaurant and refused to deliver our order. I drove to the...restaurant to enquire what had happen. I thought this might have been quiet an awkward conversation, but it was not. The owner and chefs were both great guys who couldn’t do enough to help me. They apologised and explained what had happened with the driver. They immediately made me two fresh pizzas whilst having a good chat to me. Our pizzas were freshly made with fresh ingredients and delicious. My first time here and I’ll be returning that’s for sure.More

Ate here on evening before advice to reduce social contact with corona virus so very quiet (as was all of Birmingham). Great service by friendly Spanish waitress who gave good advice regarding food choices. Hubby had beef carpaccio followed by lasagna and I had olives...followed by gnocchi in cream sauce with spinach and walnuts (recommended by waitress). All meals were lovely and delicious washed down with nice bottle of Italian merlot. Quite reasonably priced too. Lovely meal with lack of other people not detracting from experience. Would recommend. It’s only a couple of doors down fromPark Regis hotel where we were staying.More
