Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with my friend, in a very nice setting. Our waiter James H was most attentive, nothing was too much trouble for him and made the whole afternoon tea experience most enjoyable. I will definitely be returning.

I have no complaints about the food, the starters and dessert were especially lovely. However, the service was the worst I have received at any restaurant let alone a fine dining. It was a Monday night and we had to beg to be served, waited...20 mins to be seated (despite booking) and a further 30 mins before someone even came to the table. To be fair I don’t believe it was the staff’s fault as they were clearly understaffed/ under trained. The waiter explained that he was new so we cannot really complain. However the hostess was very rude at every encounter from the time we arrived to the time we left. She told us we had 2 hours to eat (after taking 20 mins to seat us and we arrived 10 mins early to a person in the queue in front of us who was also getting frustrated with them) and then came to try to kick us off our table while we still had mains on the table. We were not to blame for the slow service and were also charged extra for that table near a window, the way she spoke to us was blunt and dismissive. Her attitude was just very poor and she definitely was not suited to a customer service role. The meal was ruined by another hostess shouting “SERVICE” into the restaurant every 2 minutes. It was shocking, I could not enjoy my meal. The waiters have eyes and it is a full restaurant so surely they know/ can see the food is there. Surely it would be better to just have someone on pass, bringing food out, rather than employ someone just to shout service repeatedly into a room of people trying to enjoy their meal. It was like I was in McDonalds, except slower and harder to speak to a member of staff. The decor and views are lovely though so if you have a lot of money to spare then I guess it’s worth it for that. But if you’re looking for a special evening with a nice ambience this is not it.More

After being gifted a Prosecco & 2 Course Meal by a friend, myself and the wife decided to book for a lunchtime. The restaurant itself is very lovely, elegant and comfortable. The staff were great and very welcoming which is where the 3 star review...comes from. We ordered the sourdough bread & butter for the table which came out warm and was very nice. I then ordered the Great British Burger and my wife the steak. The steak was absolutely fantastic along with the chips, very very good overall and perfectly cooked. However, the burger on the other hand was very much overcooked and was literally burnt. I should have sent it back however decided to eat what I could and just leave the rest and we were short on time as it was. I was very let down and will not choose to have this option again. The deserts were absolutely lovely, with the brownie and apple crumbles being chosen by us. No fault with those at all. All in all, 6/10 which is mainly for the service and deserts.More

We spent a weekend in Birmingham which we were really impressed by. Just before we had to leave we decided to book the Marco Pierre White restaurant for lunch, as it has a great view. We paid £5 each extra for the view and knew...we only had 2 hours which we thought was fine. We arrived and sat in our seat, the restaurant was half full with at least 11 waitering staff. We waited for over 20 minutes and then had to ask for some one to bring us a drink. A very charming young lady came and apologized and we ordered food. We waited another 15 minutes to get a bottle of wine. Eventually we got our starters. My husband's scotch egg was good but my smoked salmon was mediocre at best. We then waited another 20 minutes for the mains. At this point we thought we would pay for what we have had and grab a sandwich. After 50 minutes the mains arrived. My main course, pork escalope was very greasy and tasted strongly in parts. I struggled to eat some of it but left most of it as it was pretty inedible . My husband's fish and chips were tasteless and the batter was soggy. Staff spoke to us twice to apologize but this didn't change the poor food or service. We were offered complimentary desserts however I didn't want to try anything else in the restaurant. We paid our not inconsiderable bill and left. A member of staff was in the lift, obviously she had finished work and asked us again about our experience. I felt quite embarrassed to reiterate how bad it was. She said she would arrange to send us a voucher. She seemed genuine and really wanted to give good customer service. Marco Pierre White how could you put your name to such a poor dining experience. I very rarely leave food in a restaurant and after having had an amazing curry in Ashas, Marco Pierre White, never again. I wish I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor first!More

Well what can I say absolutely shocking, £5 charge each to sit by a window. We had champagne to start, afternoon tea came out. Well the food did and mugs, no coffee or tea. I had to get up and ask one if the five...team that were all chatting amongst themselves for the whole time we sat at our table. No one asked us if the food was good, no one asked us if we would like more drinks, again I had to get up and ask. It was a birthday treat for my 22year old daughter. She had travelled all the way from Liverpool for this occasion. Then to top it all a 10% service charge was add to the bill. We paid and left after our allocated 2hrs. There was not a single goodbye, thank you for coming, enjoy the rest of your day! Nothing!! I will not be going again!!More

We had the groupon voucher for 2 course meal. I read mixed reviews on the butchers steak … Definitely upgrade to the sirloin and pay the difference unless you have razor charp teeth to get through the butchers steak ! Starter was lovely (Welsh rarebit),...bread and butter amazing, Prosecco lovely …. Just the steak let it down … (personally I feel this should be removed from the menu and not served at all ) Lovely setting, service slow.More

They say the chicken is halal but all other meats aren’t. I haven’t seen a certificate or anything but they say it is.
